Honestly, and I don't say this often, he is one of the greatest professors i've ever had. The greatest stories you've ever heard along with the biggest laughs you've ever had. Pretty clear and precise and very helpful. He honestly cares about his students and is always willing to help.

Parlin is one of the best teachers ive had! he knows what he is talking about. though he can be harsh during crits it is never in a mean way he is just blunt about his opinions he'll tell you what he likes but ultimately wants you to like your own work. he is absolutely hilarious ive never laughed so hard. his stories are amazing!

Hands down, the best professor I've had in Edinboro. Not only is he a well of worldly experience and art-related wisdoms, but he sincerely is a good guy. Jim is a wonderful teacher. He can be a little harsh during crit but its just his sarcastic personality. Really likes getting to know his students personally and gives lots of individual attention. Great stories, swears alot, but is very articulate. Smart and helpful. projects are sometimes tedious, but you'll learn alot.

Hes got some amusing stories! Keeps you entertained. Really helpful and very witty and sarcastic. You work with alot of paper shapes but gradually it progresses to more sturdy things. Watch out for foam! gets EVERYWHERE...lint roller! Id Definatly recommend him! ps. ask about what happened to his fridge when he was in college ;)

Some of his projects can get a little repetitive and annoying, but by the end, you'll be happy with most of them. If there's a time when you don't feel like doing work in his class, you can try to get him on one of his long stories. The stories are probably one of the best parts of the class.

Jim is the best! I loved going to class! His stories are fun and he's hillarious. I think he hated when class was boring, so he always made it fun. Projects are easy but can become a little repetitive and pretty messy. He's very helpful when you need it. Listen to his sugestions and you're gold.

omg i love Jim! He's so hilarious! Jim always picked on me and it was so fun. :) he made the 2.5 hrs go by w/ all his warped stories i didn't mind all the work in class. this guy is the funniest, most entertaining professor ever, he makes the class time fly by with his stories. His projects are all pretty abstract and a little labor intensive but not bad to do. Hes all about the negative space in a project. the only bad thing about the class was the blue foam.
