Despite the fact I did not pass this class, I would take it again in a heartbeat (Mainly so I could finally pass). The professor is understanding and gave a lot of effort in helping the class and myself understand the material, and he sometimes has some humor with his lectures...

Calc 3, the course in question, was an uphill battle all semester long, but thanks to Professor Voss, I can proudly say I made it! He's a genuinely good teacher who puts a lot effort into the class and expects the same from his students. Granted, if you've made it to calc 3, you've probably expected that going in and know what's expected of you.

Taken online so its a bit harder to grade as a teacher since it's not as involved compared to a regular classroom. His online class was straightforward and was well organized. MyMathLab+ for all of your homework and quizzes (3 or 4 chapters per week) Easy to practice more problems. Downside, you do not get your tests back to see what was wrong

He was easy to learn from and had a great attitude. He explained the topics with passion. He also was great with humor. His tests were graded in a way that made them more fair and balanced. Just overall great as a teacher.

Jim is one of few teachers who can actually make calculus 3 enjoyable to learn. Expect to have to work hard, but get a real understanding of some of the toughest math concepts. Jim records all lectures, is always easy to get ahold of and very helpful in answering questions. He also answers questions from homework assignments in class.

Jim is a wonderful math teacher. He knows the subject thoroughly and can explain the tough concepts in a variety of ways until you understand it. He is always willing to help during office hours and is a very fair teacher. Absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a exceptional teacher. Definitely the best math teacher I've come across.

I have had many good math teachers, but Jim beats them all hands down. He was always there, either during office hours or even online to help me understand the concepts I struggled with. He was always prepared and made class fun. He also records and posts all his lectures to itunes or youtube. Absolutely phenomenal teacher!

I despise Algebra, and learning it online is not an easy task. However, Jim has been an awesome teacher. He is so willing to help, and always answers every students questions within 1-2 days. He will make individual videos/pencasts for students not understanding the material. Best teacher ever!!! :)

Not recommended. Never prepared for class. He picks random examples from the book and half the time, he doesn't know how to do it or he does it wrong. I found that very confusing. He doesn't know how to answer questions or relate the material to real life. His lectures and notes are online but it doesn't make up for the poor quality of his teaching

The comments on Jim Voss sound completely phony. I believe Jim Voss wrote them. His class is very tough. On test there is no calculator or note cards. I hated being in his class. I withdrew and will never take his class again. The way he teaches can be very confusing and he acts like we should all know what he is taking about.BEWARE>
