Seems nice enough. Though, I asked him a simple question about an assignment, and he responded with a lengthy email explaining where I can find the answers online (instead of providing them himself). Fair enough... except he didn't provide the answers online. I prefer less hostility and more helpfulness when I pay thousands to attend school.

Great professor, always keeping up with the class in terms of copying down lecture notes from the slides. Excellent musical examples relating to the topics covered in class and very straightforward tests and assignments. Decent marker in all aspects. Overall, I would have him again in future classes

Always shows up late constantly. His powerpoint slides are written like they were intended for a grade 5 class. He has limited understanding of the subject matter himself and relies on his slides. If you ask a question or challenge one of his many factually incorrect statements, don't expect a constructive conversation. Also, no marks on blackbord

Comment:

Fairly good teacher, keeps good control over the classroom, kind of funny because he bobbles his head similar to that of a bobblehead. But very nice man, and easy to get along with. Tests are fairly hard as his multiple choice are on stuff he doesn't mention often, so make sure you go back over your notes frequently. Highest mark on MC was 4/8.

Great teacher if you are left-brained - ie: if you learn by powerpoint presentation and taking notes, this prof is for you. Also, Jim is very clear for what he wants out of his students in terms of tests and assignments

I had jim for pop culture/humanities .. very nice guy, pretty easy marker but the power point lectures each class got annoying and thus each week resulted to too many notes in his class!! Prepare your hands and bring lots of paper but you will learn stuff!
