She is the most inconsiderate, rude professor I have ever taken a class with. She ignores any student concerns and is highly unprofessional, speaks of how her daughter is smarter than all of her students. Students asked her for help after class and she told them that they're not smart. Waste of time/energy. Very disrespectful to students.

Very Knowledgable and a great person once you get to know her. Comes off very straight forward which can be taken for rudeness. Hard class, work for a good grade and you will get one. People tend to spend more time complaining than studying for this class.

It seems like people fear this woman, but if you talk to her and sound knowledgeable about the class she helps you (kind of). I actually preferred her over Hall, just because her quizzes were very similar to her exams. She made this class very hard though, just pay attention to her lectures and take notes, READ and take notes, do HW and take notes!

I actually enjoyed her class. Physics is extremely hard to begin with and she gave lots of quizzes (which you might groan about) but she based her exams off of them which was why most people would beg her to give quizzes out after each chapter. It is a bit harder to ask her questions and get a reply you like but overall i thought she was realy good

In the section I was in when I took her, most of the class either dropped or didn't bother to show up anymore...havent noticed when exactly but by 2 weeks before spring break was when i noticed...im serious...10 minutes before class started there was most seats gone, and whoever came in hadda get seats from other classes...that's how crowded this class was at beginning to whenever ppl fell off face of the earth...nvr had this much of a drop before in any if my classes...it was always few ppl

Dr. Gao Is a very tough grader and has no problem failing students. But if you do the work you should be fine. Don't email her asking for help. She is slow to respond and usually doesn't give much help via email. I would suggest going to see her during office hours.

Horrible grader. This is the only prof who did this in all my years of college for a math class. If you're a tenth of a decimal point away from correct answer she'll mark whole question wrong. You tell her and she won't care. It has to be exact with her. I coulda gotten a grade higher on a quiz or test cuz of this.

She comes straight out and tells you after first test you better drop (if you fail) because you'll fail for semester. You better listen to her because she takes points off crazily (literally) just to give you an F so she won't look bad. Dont believe me? Took 6/10 point off my 2nd test answers (2 part quest) cuz direction was wrong. seriously?

THREE WORDS.....DON'T DO IT! This is the worst teacher I have EVER taken in my life. She takes simple concepts and makes them ridiculously hard. And even if you do catch her during her "office hours" she does not help at all. Her response for everything is "I MAKE IT SO EASY!" -_- and believe me she doesn't make ANYTHING easy....... DON'T DO IT!!!!

Where to begin lol. She just outlines the chapter sections, and doesn't explain anything. Goes too fast and quick. Her "slowing down" is a regular class. Discourages you when you wanna do good but didn't do so good on first test. She underestimates your abilities.

This prof is horrible like everyone says she is. She literally never in her office hours when she supposed to be. Does't give back labs. She does see if you trying or slacking off, so I give her that much. After first test if you fail (even if it a 40) she tries to convince you to drop class cuz she assumes you'll automatically fail other 2 tests. Even if you ask her about passing the next 2 tests after first test. And she'll laugh at you and tell you otherwise. Just makes you feel discouraged.

Dr Gao is awesome. One catch... YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK otherwise she won't make any sense. But if you read the book, and do the homework, you will find her lectures super clear and very interesting. If you are looking for an easy A, don't take her. If you want to truly understand physics she's the best.
