JOAN LARKIN IS THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD... I HAD HER AT COLUMBIA COLLEGE IN THE SPRING OF 2005, THE WAY SHE EMOTIONALLY CONNECTED WITH US REALLY TOUCHED ME. I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT CLASS AND NEVER HAVE A CLASS OR TEACHER LIKE HER AGAIN. SHE FORMED A SAFE PLACE FOR EVERYONE TO SHARE THEIR EMOTIONS AT A TIME WHEN I WAS GOING THROUGH A LOT

She's proof that there is at least one angel on earth. She's well-read and knowledgeable, but you really learn about poetry--your own and that of others--as well as the world through the spirit she radiates. I am not religious, but I can't think of a better way to describe her.

Joan Larkin has a youthful spirit. I loved this class and conferences with her were great! Sometimes you like someone's poetry and then you meet them and you are disappointed; Joan DID NOT dissapoint.

She's great. She doesn't just spend time analyzing your work and that of your classmates; she actually teaches you about how poetry works. And she does it in the way your mother might, had she been a poet.
