I am a 1976 graduate of MSMC. Joan Miller is terrific. I was a special education teacher for 12 years, then a university professor for 15 and now a director of a research and training center (8 years). Joan helped launch my career with the many opportunities (e.g., Wassaic) that she provided. She is outstanding!

BEST TEACHER EVER. Dr. Miller knows that she is talking about and is very helpful if you need help. She is always there for you and even helps you with other classes. She is such an amazing teacher and I wish I had her for every education class.

Anyone here who has written bad things about Dr. Miller is wrong. They are either lazy or just bad students. You must be motivated and set up appointments with her. She may come off as tough, but she was very sweet to me, a man. I got As in her classes because I met with her, e-mailed her, and gave her Xmas gifts ;-). She's the best.

Dr. Miller is TOUGH - no doubt about it. I took her for a grad level class and cried my way through the semester. I worked my backside off, she helped when I asked, and I ended up getting a B+. She even complimented my hard work. I would take her again. She's a smart lady.

Dr. Miller knows everything.At first, she may seem really mean, but that's just the way she is. It's IMPERATIVE that you set up appointments with her when lesson plans are due, or you'll fail. Guaranteed. In order to do well, you can't miss a class and need to ask questions. If you're not a strong student, you'll probably fail.

Dr. Miller is a wonderful resource to have as an education student. She is a tough teacher, def a realist. She is not going to cradle or carry you through the course. She is great with small children, and extremely helpful 1 on 1. She will not do the work for you. Hard work = sucess. Lazy ppl wont like her!

I thought she was a great teacher. I learned so much from Dr. Miller. She is a wealth of knowledge when teaching about Spec. Ed. She is a hard grader, but she is fair and very approachable when you have questions. She has a good sense of humor, and great to talk to. I LOVED her as a professor and hope to have her again at the grad. level.

She is very bright... and if she could manage to instill a portion of her mental capacity into her students then something drastic would have to have changed... she is awkward to approach, dry and as unpleasing a personality as you are apt to find at the college

Yep she is hard... grades hard, expects a lot. Makes class very interesting and Spec. Ed material is dry. She knows her stuff... I liked her but have avoided scheduling with her again as I received my lowest grade in her class (B).
