Comment:

Joan is one of the best professors I've had at Marshall University. She is very Patient with her teaching, since this class is very hands on, along with being willing to help with any problems that arise. I would highly recommend her for anyone who had the chance the take her class.

Joan has a great sense of humor and will absolutely work with you when you need it. She doesn't post grades online but she did hand back all my papers and even during tests was willing to talk certain things over to help me out. You have to be present and participate to pass but so long as you put in effort and communicate with her you'll pass.

At first, I had liked her class because of how easy it was. But, towards the end of the semester, I realized that I hadn't learned anything nor did I benefit from taking her class. She did not put any grades online, so you never knew what you had in that class. Not only that, but she genuinely does not care about her students well-being either.

I liked Joan at first, but as the class progresses, you get a sense that she doesn't care about FYS. She never gave us formal grades, which leads me to believe they never existed in the first place, and she was often absent from class due to her obligations to the theatre. Her assignments seemed unrelated and tacky, like high school work.

Comment:

Joan is one of the most caring professor's to be found at Marshall University. While she's not the best at keeping students up to date with grades she is so understanding. As long as you come to class you are guaranteed to pass; however, showing up doesn't guarantee a good grade. She makes you work for it but the skills she teaches are lifelong.

While Joan herself is nice and occasionally funny, I didn't care for her class. I didn't think she was clear on grading criteria, and she never told us the grades for our assignments. I had no idea how I was doing in the class until the semester was over. Plus, there is plenty of group work/projects, which is sometimes a pro and sometimes a con.
