She bases all tests and quizzes only on the textbook, so you must read the ENTIRE book and memorize small details to pass with a good grade. She'll allow a use of a notecard for the big tests. Then the other grades are based on the 3-4 Essays in the semester, and the group project you will do. She doesnt keep up with grades, until the last day.

Professor Hedleston is a very headstrong person. She will sort of argue back and forth if a student challenges her thinking but she has the knowledge to back it up. She can rub people the wrong way but is not a bad professor. Her class is super easy, only 3 papers all semester and scattered 5 question reading quizzes throughout the term.

Joann was not a good professor in even the slightest. This course is a ton of reading & she randomly gives pop reading quizzes orally. She's clearly very bias in her views. Every class she spends over half the class ranting on about a social issue and then watches a poorly-lead class discussion unfold into arguments. Also, very confusing grader.

Jo Ann was THE WORST prof Ive ever had. Shes bias and lectures about her personal life far too often which makes classes so hard to follow. And just to give you an idea on the type of grader she is, I wrote about a case study for my final paper and she said it seemed made up even though I got it from the textbook she required for class :/

Professor Hedleston was a great teacher for me. I loved her lectures and how interesting all the conversations were. She is a bit unorganized and that bothered a lot of my classmates. Being good at writing is a big help in her class, as you do complete 4 papers. 3 tests. All moderate difficulty.

Worst teacher I have ever had. This teacher was not respectful to students at all. The topic could have been very interesting but she spent most of her time lecturing about her personal life instead. Do not take this class with her, find a different teacher.

This class was very painful. Prof. Hedleston required attendance, but she spent very little class time actually lecturing. The only way to pass the class is to complete the entire study guide she gives by reading most of textbook. The study guides each took about 8 hours to complete, but she only posted it online less than a week before the test.

She assigns seats, you can't miss more than 2 classes, and the tests, while not impossible to pass, are focused more on which philosopher said what rather than actual applicable content. She focuses a lot on her own opinion and treats students like children.

Shes a good teacher but she goes off on rants about her personal opinion and does not teach you how to form your own opinion. Shes extremely bias and interrupts you when you speak.

This class is extremely challenging. She gives no structured lectures and talks only about her own opinions. She is not helpful at all and study guides are extremely difficult.

She was average in my opinion. Her class really isn't that difficult. If you show up every day, passing isn't an issue. Make sure to keep up on readings because she gives quizzes. Lectures aren't really that helpful because she talks a lot but they are entertaining. No surprises on exams and she is pretty fair and understanding.

She's a fun lady, really nice. Doesn't do any structured lectures, kind of just talks the whole time but as long as you go to class and do the readings for the weekly quizzes you'll be fine. She does take attendance every day but is flexible about it

There are random reading quizzes over the previous classes material, but she asks specifics on cases, statistics, etc. Her lectures are very hard to follow, and being a class on morals and logic, hers don't match up to her actions, she will cut people off if she doesn't agree. Exams are awful, you get a notecard tho, if that helps at all??

Professor Hedleston isn't terrible but she's not amazing either. I can tell she's a good person, but she is not very good at teaching. There's little structure so I struggled. There's 3 papers and 3 tests and pop quizzes so I never felt like I was learning, just testing. I would recommend trying an easier class with a better teacher for PHIL.

She does not explain assignments well, does not like to give feedback on papers beside grammar, you have to attend in order to not miss pop-quizzes and sign in every day. I did not like her as a teacher but she is a nice, hippy person which can be nice.

The pop quizzes will destroy you if you dont keep up with the readings. She takes attendance, is very disorganized (we had outdated syllabus for 1/2 the semester) and is interested in minimal work for herself. I also know how she personally feels about every controversial issue, which I think made the entire class afraid to say much.

If you like Philosophy, you'll like her class. She lets you use a notecard on tests--- very helpful! She let us go outside a few times. Has discussions about current issues (abortion, etc.) and that was fun...
