She tells great stories (about the content of course) and engages you. Just go to class, take good notes and study and your fine. Don't be lazy. Still one of my favorite classes.

Really interesting class for sure. She knows her stuff and teaches really well. However her marking is ridiculously tough. It seems like the people she liked do well, and even when you go to her for help, you still do just as badly. Don't expect an A, but expect a VERy interesting course.

This was one of the most interesting classes i've ever taken. Material is fascinating, and Joanne is very knowledgeable on the information. Her exams are lengthy, but if you take good notes in class, they are pretty easy. I loved her subtle humour, it made the class that much better. Excellent class and an awesome prof!

Comment:

Relig 274 is a great class, and fairly straight forward/ easy if you have a brain that likes to memorize. Prof. W's exams are long and you will have a well cultivated hand cramp by the end of one. She warns you first thing that the course is heavy into dates, so don't complain. She marks hard, but fairly. Make sure that you mind your grammer!

Comment:

Lots of dates and names to memorize, but it's easy enough if you attend classes and study. She warned us on the first day that she was a hard marker, so nobody has the right to complain about her marking this semester. She's really passionate about the subject, and loves one-on-one chats about the material. Highly recommended!

Lectures are interesting, and the exams are ok as long as you study hard and attend lectures. In this course, a B+ goes up to 87.9999, so if you want an A, it will be tough. She marks highly critical on assignments and papers.

I don't know about previous terms, but we got assignments back in a timely fashion. She knows tons about the course material, and can answer any questions of the top of her head. Exams are difficult, but if you attend class regularly and take good notes, and *GASP* study...you will be FINE! Just because you have to study doesn't make the class bad!

Would not recommend this class to anyone, at least not with this prof. She expects far too much from students and does not take into consideration that this is only a 200-level course. You're basically tested on how well you can memorize her notes, and she marks very hard.

The test was reallly hard...she had to bump everyones grade up, it was also ridiculously long. She marked even harder for the essay. The course content was very interesting, but i recommoned taking it with someone else(eg W. LITKE is very good)if you want this to be an easy class and a for sure A!

uhhh... she marks brutally hard. make sure you memorize her notes WORD by WORD or else she docks you like 5points. class isn't on the curve and midterm average was like a C so if you get a B- thats what youre stuck with. lame.
