Comment:

Dr. Arruda's online ELS class was an easy A. There's quite a bit of work to do, mainly because it's only offered online during the summer and so all the content is crammed into eight weeks, but it's worth it to take it from him, especially if you're just doing it to get the general education requirement out of the way.

He's my adviser and is very helpful. If you want to do well. than he wants you to do well. If he offers online classes take them. They will take up 3-6 hours of your week, but they are pretty easy. If you take field classes with him they are always interesting. Sometimes he comes off as rude, but it's not intentional. Give his personality time.

Each power point has several "learning objectives" if you want an A on his tests, you have to write out each learning objective as an essay. This is the best way to prepare for the exams. In my ecology class the exams were 5-8 essay questions. Not hard if you started writing down the "learning objectives" before hand! Very helpful if you need it.

If you can read several chapters and regurgitate the information in the form of an essay yo uwill be fine for the exams. Do not take if you are looking for an easy ecology class, he will know if you simply memorize without comprehending the materal based on your essays. That being said, it's an interesting class, even for a pre-med student.

Dr. Arruda was an awesome teacher. You definitely have to put time into POBII, but that is given with any science class. He was very clear cut on what you needed to know on each test (half essay and he gave you possible prompts) and didnt try to trick you. If you know your stuff, you will do great. I recommend him to anyone.

He literally spells out all that you need to do to pass on the first day. Gives you every objective for the semester. Obviously, you won't pass a biology course without studying, but he is always very helpful. If you don't show up for lecture, you will not pass.

I took the online ELS class. I think it was very easy. He graded easily. However, he does not follow MLA style formats. He has his own thing he does. But all together, he is helpfule when needing help and it is an easy online class.

Definitely have to be in that seat to understand the materials and get the quizzes done. Tests are primarily ESSAY and therefore makes "getting the grade" quite a bit harder. Has corny jokes and tries to make the class more interesting, though.

He's not a difficult teacher. Yes his tests are mostly essay but that means you get a ton of partial points. If you show up, and actually take time to study, you'll get an A. Overall, take him for POBII and you won't regret it.

I took online ELS with this guy. He sucks, he doesnt us MLA or APA he uses his own citing sources method and fails you if you use MLA (which should be approved) but overall his class is ok to take online. Way easier than in the real class room.

Dr. Arruda is verrrry helpful. I've talked with him a few times and he offered nothing but help and was very kind. His tests are very tough but if you study the way he suggests, you'll at least pass. Highly recommended. Good guy.
