Joe Chilsen is someone I would avoid in Marketing. His lectures are boring, you need to be present for every class, and his tests are inaccurate from the class discussions. He also offered me extra credit in the class worth 25 points. I clearly did the extra credit but he decided to never put the grade in no matter how much I contacted him.

Joe Chilsen is a great professor and an overall amazing person. He is truly a servant leader in the community and will do anything for his students. I enjoyed attending his classes and his lectures were always interesting. He doesn't teach out of the book - he gives real world examples. Just prepare for the final and you will be fine. Take him!!

Chilsen loves his students and will do anything for us. He is the mayor of Onalaska, and if you forget, hell let you know about it pretty much every class period. He hand grades all the tests and a lot of times marks things wrong that are actually right. He is a good professor and a good man. Definitely take him.

Mayor "Papa Joe" is a great guy. Joe Chilsen is roughly as good of a professor as he is a mayor according to Onalaskawatch . com. The lectures are nonsense, the exams are even more idiotic, and the final is based off the book which he doesn't lecture on. He'll dedicate half of class on mayor duties. Otherwise a great class.

For Papa Joe (that's what he asks that you call him) you need to go to his class and take detailed notes, otherwise the exams are going to be way harder than they need to be. There is a group project throughout the whole semester, but not many people in the class understand it fully. Really nice guy, but could communicate better.

Joe is a good guy, but his class is mediocre at best. There's two large exams and a giant group project, plus quizzes every class so don't even think about skipping. Did I mention he's the mayor? Because he will let you know. Again. And again. And again. His lectures are outdated and he dances around students questions. Take someone else.

Joe is a good guy, and he enjoys teaching the subject at hand. However, he is not very straightforward about what he wants on the project, so it is difficult to do on your own. There is no rubric, however, he will help you if you ask. You will do fine in this class if you don't put the project off until the last minute.

He curves the whole class. I didn't do too hot on the exams, yet still got a B in the class. Pretty sure he doesn't read your reports at all. Never puts a grade online. You need to go to class because of the quizzes, but if he is in a good mood he will give you the answers.

Joe's a great guy. He is very approachable, and is there to answer questions at any time, going so far as to give his students his cell number. I hate marketing, but he made the class interesting enough and applied the info to other areas of business. The final project is a pain, but he's helpful on that as well, and tests are pretty easy as well.

Here's the thing, part of a professor's salary is based on the reviews students give at the end of the class. This guy wants to be your friend. He's a salesman, and he's selling likability with a side of marketing. I didn't take much from his class in terms of actual marketing theory. It's a cake walk because he wants it to be. He's forgettable.

Loved this class. You learn so much. But don't be fooled by the sound of "matching" exams, it means you still do have to study. The project is very interesting, and spend a lot of time on it! No final. Daily chapter quizzes that are usually common sense. Definitely take if you can.

Amazing teacher. It doesn't really feel like you're learning anything during the year but once the final comes, it's amazing how much you will remember. Tells a lot of stories, but really knows his marketing. Quizzes on the readings each day for the 1st half of semester,and the 2nd half is for working on a huge group project. A pretty fun class.

Chilsen is a real world businessman. He actually works in the world of marketing. This helps make class interesting. He really know marketing inside and out. He is a great guy who will really do anything for his students. Tests are tough but if you study some he will tell you what you need to know for the tests. Great Teacher all around.
