He's pretty interesting. very knowledgeable but not confusing. He makes geology easy to understand *however* his tests can be hard. Some questions are easy (if you studied) but some questions leave you clueless. Anyway, he curves the tests and attendance is really important to help your grade. No book required. I recommend him

Dr. Donovan is a wonderful teacher. He is always helpful and made geology interesting. The class is not your basic "easy 101" course, but it feels great when you work hard and see that the effort pays off. Keep up on the reading and take good notes. You'll do well if you do that. The class was overall pretty easy. He was pretty funny and brought his dog, Ziggy to class a lot which was cool. The tests were hard but as long as you studied the notes and went over terms in the book you did fine. He always curved the tests too so i ended up getting an A in the course.

The class is a total waste of time. He doesnt have any set curriculum and stops class every two seconds to talk about his dog (who is always there and very distracting) .When I study hodge-podge notes he gives us in class and i take the test, it feels like im playing jeopardy! He ends up curving teh tests by 50+%. Did not learn a thing.

This class is worthless. He scales the grades 20+ points on every one of the 4 tests. The class isnt enjoyable to be at because he rambles on about things that have nothing to do with what will be on the test. Not to mention he has a great dog, that can be extremely distracting.

Grades are made up from 4 tests. If you go to class and takes the notes then you'll do fine. I understood nothing but studied the notes and lecture slides for a couple hours the day before the tests and made A's. If you are at class he randomly gives easy quizes for extra credit. Overall a good teacher to have.

Class is fun but tests are very hard, a normal test is 15 fill in the blanks with 4-5 blanks for each question. 20 multiple choice questions where all 5 can be correct or none can be correct and there is always 2 diagrams at the end you get to completly label. Sounds like fun right?

Doc D keeps the class entertained by showing there's more to rocks then it appears. If you ever pull him aside in class and ask about anything...he knows his****. I've never met a more passionate scientist.

He is an alright teacher. Its extremely easy to get lost during his lectures. His tests are completely ridiculous but you can use your notes and he gives lots of partial credit. If you go to class everyday its pretty hard to not get an A or B.

This teacher is a really great guy. He brings his dog to class, he lets us use our notes on the test, and he gives easy quizzes just so people can bring their grades up. If you need a science class take this one, you won't regret it.
