The tests in this class are extremely difficult and I often found myself with no clue what to study. Joe rambles about stuff that he finds interesting rather than teaching what will be on tests. He is a good dude, but this class was not a good time.

Big Joe would be a fantastic teacher for lab. He can really dive deep into whatever he wants to talk about. However, during an actual lecture class you're often find yourself pencil in hand and nothing written down in your notes. You honestly have no clue how to study or really what to study. Before test, terms are given, they're vagueeeee.

Dr. Pollock isnt a very good professor. I feel like I barely learned anything and I didnt miss any classes. He doesnt explain stuff good, doesnt but notes on the board of stuff you need to know, he just stands there and talks and expects you to learn everything. His grading scale is so odd. I will say he is a good guy and is funny at times.

Dr. Pollock is an amazing guy. Hilarious and very interested in his class's learning. It can be hard to adjust to the way his class is structured, but you start to get engaged in his lectures and it'll all make sense! His tests are hard, but his grading is curved and if you do the labs you'll get at least a B easily! Definitely recommend!

This course is fascinating! Dr. Pollock is an extremely kind, funny and intelligent professor, but I didn't like his teaching style. He gives long lectures and is unclear about what is important for tests. GO TO CLASS AND TAKE DETAILED NOTES. Prepare to get called on randomly and talk A LOT of physics... if you're not a fan of physics, take Bio.

He's the sweetest man. He truly cares about his students and wants them to do well. His lectures are confusing and it's a must that you go to the review sessions before the test. Tests are hard (like every astro class). His grading scale makes up for that though. If you improve on your tests he'll help you out in the end. Defiantly recommend him.

I have never met a better teacher, friend, or person than Dr. P. He opened my eyes to the beautiful universe and to the complex lives that exist within it. He taught me to look up and appreciate all that surrounds us. I walk on with a lifelong love for astronomy and immense gratitude for this teacher.

Pollock is a nice guy who constantly cracked me up with his puns but he is probably the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures are so boring and you never know what to write down which makes it difficult to study for exams. He does review sessions before each exam, but they only confused me further. The labs are pretty easy though.

WONDERFUL TEACHER! I had a horrible experience with my first astronomy gen ed teacher (Caton) and was very wary going into this class. Attendance is optional but if you go to class you don't have to read the text. If you listen and engage (especailly ask questions) the class is easy and fun! He boosted my grade from B to A for being involved.

Dr P is the most entertaining teacher I've ever had. Seriously he could teach boredom 101 and make it interesting. He makes hilarious jokes and puns throughout each class. The subject itself is pretty difficult to grasp. The tests are hard. Pay attention in class and take lots of notes.

Dr.Pollock is really nice guy but his teaching style was not compatible with my learning style at all at least in a topic that I'm bad in. His grading scale is more lenient though and that is what saved me in the end, if anything take him for that reason. I was so glad to be down with astronomy and glad his grading scale was more lenient!

Dr. Pollock was a REALLY great teacher. He was personable, energetic, and all around funny. My only qualm was that there were NO other grades in the class besides the exam. If you zone out on anything in lecture -- and he does tangent a lot -- you were never POSITIVE you understood it. If you don't know something, you won't know until the test.

Dr Pollock is hilarious and really nice. His class isn't easy so you're going to have to go to class and pay attention most of the time. The material is incredibly interesting and engaging so going to class isn't bad. Labs are really easy, we often just watch a movie.

Class isn't mandatory, but if you want to do well on the test you'll probably need to go most of the time. But class is fun, and Pollock is a good teacher for such complex subjects. Always go to lab and you'll pretty much get an instant A. As I hear it, if you're going to take Astronomy at App, take Pollock.

Dr. Pollock is awesome! I absolutely loved his class. His lectures really do get to the point, I promise, but his tangents are equally informative. Also, he has the mandatory Astrophysics Department Haircut, which is absolutely glorious, and if you go to App, you'll know exactly what I mean.

I feel like I didn't learn anything that was on the tests during the class. His test average is a 68, which seems like a problem. But if you like to listen to tangents and you have a good knowledge of Astronomy, take his class.
