Amazing overall professor. I blame Vasta for my major change from mechanical engineering to Mathematics with a teaching emphasis. Hilarious yet knowledgeable and clear in his lectures. I took his ODELA class (Ordinary Differential Equations and Linear Algebra) and got a B

Really loved his personality, hes hilarious. No doubt he is a great prof. but his teaching style and class setup didnt work for me. Jumps right into examples rather than explaining the concept first, so I never truly understood anything. Im a 4.0 student so I dropped the class with a B- since I didnt need the class anymore. Nice guy though!

One of the best teachers I've ever had the privilege of having. It's a joy coming to every lecture and he does an excellent job helping you understand even some of the most difficult concepts. I don't think there was a single lecture he didn't make me smile or laugh out loud.

Joe Vasta has a great approach to his lectures: focus on examples, which explain how to complete each problem and reveal patterns and shortcuts, and ease the stress of the semester with humor. His lectures are enjoyable and effective. Homework and attendance are not graded but absolutely recommended to complete in order to succeed in this class.

Prof. Vasta is a surprisingly good professor. He is pretty lecture heavy, but entertaining enough to keep you paying attention. Tests are fairly straightforward with minimal curveballs. But tests are the only thing in your grade, no hw, no quizzes, just 5 tests and a final. He is very funny and genuinely cares about his students. Solid teacher

Never going to forget this guy, he probably changed my whole perspective on teaching and life ''if you arent laughing at least once a week then what are you doing''? Vasta is my favorite, makes math super easy & is hilarious. Grade is based only on tests. He wrote the book, which is where the hw is in & hw is not graded but is very similar to his tests. As long as you do and understand the hw, you should do good on the tests. Also, he has an EC question on every exam. Gives points for attendance.

This is easily one of the best classes Ive ever taken. Professor Vasta is way overqualified to be teaching this class. Hes super nice and explains things in easy-to-understand ways. The class was a cakewalk, in my opinion. I didnt do any homework, nor did I study for the class besides 5 minutes before the final and I did great. Please consider.

Homework isn't mandatory but it's the only studying you'll need to do. When I did my homework I got a 110% on my test but when I didn't do my homework I got a 65%. Math was actually kinda easy and he made it fun.

I took math 230 with Joe and I can not say enough good things about my experience. I knew from the first day this class would be different from previous math courses. Joe really wants his students to succeed, no surprises. So long as your show up, do the HW and exam reviews you should pass with an A or B. Also,Joe is a RIOT- many laughs!!

Joe's awesome! He mixes silly humor into most lectures, but you can tell this guy is incredibly intelligent. Genuinely cares for his students, wants you to succeed and wants to give you the best grade possible. As I'm pretty sure he reads these, thanks for a great semester, Joe.
