Joel isn't great, but he was given a course he does not know. He should adapt to it more, but the administration is the big problem. There's complaints that he doesn't provide guidance, he provides a perfect amount for a design course. If you need your hand held, STOP TAKING DESIGN COURSES. Back up what you do and Joel will give you a good mark.

Think twice before taking this class! Actually, avoid taking this class!! Prof is not clear at instructions. Work required are complicated and need to devote huge amount of time to do. I dont see the point of this class, dont get the purpose of doing all those work, and I learn NOTHING from this class!!! Waste of time and money!

His lectures vary from somewhat interesting to absolutely boring. His assignments are fairly easy, except for the fact that it's worded poorly... Which means that more time is used trying to figure out what you are supposed to do than in actually doing the assignment. Even if you ask for clarification it doesn't really do anything.

He doesnt teach..and often criticizes our papers AFTER the fact. Why not tell us what not to do before hand?..Papers he shows us in class..so called "good ones" have spelling errors..and an appedix with a picture of facebook??..Not academic at al..Do not understand this class at all..he is often not prepared for class.
