Joel used to make me wanna stick my palette knife in my eye. I thought he was an unhelpful, harsh egomaniac. He really does grow on you though. His crit can be very constructive, you just need some thick skin. Oh yeah, you need to understand the organic and the union and gestalt... All in all, I liked his class MUCH better than Bonnie's!

Harsh, if he doesn't like your work he'll let you know. He has a specific way he wants you to paint and its his way or the highway. However, you do learn a lot about painting from him although its hard to create your own style in his class.
