Joette Waddle may have been the best teacher I have ever had. She encouraged us to be creative and to work towards our goals. She struggled with sickness that she had since childhood but still had a great positive attitude. In this class, you got out what you put in. She encouraged editing which, which while tedious, made some really clean papers.

Had her for comp 1 and failed horribly so I took it with anouther teacher and I got and A she is a teacher that delights in failing of students. She is the most condescending teacher I have had. And there are so many better teachers at this school for comp one save yourself the trouble and take it with one of the other teachers even ifit'snext year

If you value your sanity at all, do NOT take this class under Waddle. If you are so unlucky as to register into this class, forget everything you have ever been taught on how to write and get ready to learn HER way. She responds to almost every single question in a condescending round about way leaving you where you started even more confused.

She doesn't really explain things very well. Only shows you what you did wrong, doesn't offer any kind of help. Very very high standard for students. Depends waaaaaaay too much on the textbook.

I've had Mrs. Waddle for comp 1&2. She's a sweet lady and will help if you need it. If you're bad at grammar don't take her, she counts off heavily for comma splices and fragments. Follow her 20 page syllabus to the letter and you should be ok.

Had her for Comp 1 and it took A LOT of effort to pass her class. If you don't read the material you won't pass the quizzes. She only made us write four papers over the course of the semester but she was VERY particular about them so that was frustrating. She is definitely a hard grader, would not recommend to anyone to take her class.

Her classes were not easy. If you are prepared and did well in High School English you can get through it. Her position is that she is teaching a college course and students should be able to demonstrate certain skills sets when they leave her class. I appreciated her honesty.

I had this class five years ago. My hatred for her teaching style was revived while discussing it with another student. I have graduated with a B.S. degree and am now in my 2nd year of law school, and have yet to have a more pretentious and picky professor. Unless she has changed, you will receive an F on any paper with 3 or more misplaced commas.

I loved English until I got Waddle. She made me loathe writing and feel like I was bad at it even though my entire life I've enjoyed it and done well. I understand that she wants grammar to be perfect but she needs to understand that there's more to good writing than focusing on comma splices. She was rude and I would NEVER take her again.

All those who said she is helpful and nice must have fell and hit their head. She grades like the devil himself would grade. I understand it's college, but we are students working on an associate's degree. Some of us haven't written in years. Personally, my self esteem dropped from taking her class. If you can help it, don't take her.

She is very mean. Be prepared to be laughed at if you ask her a question. It is true that she will tell you to look at your syllabus when you have a question. You do not get any of your points back on the essays that your correct, which is bogus, so there isn't any reason to do them except that it is a requirement. No people skills at all.

Waddle is the best professor I've had. It is completely clear that she knows what she is talking about in terms of English Lit. and Comp. She is always in her office if needed and is always friendly and willing to help. Her classes are a little hard at times but you will learn. One must simply have the drive to work. I highly recommend her!!

Had a horrible experience with her. I was asking her to clarify an assignment in an email and all she did was tell me to see the syllabus. The questions I needed answered weren't in the syllabus. Overall I would say she is a good teacher but when it comes to getting one on one help she seems like she doesn't care.

She's very finicky about grammar, so brush up before you take her. Aside from that, she's very approachable and extremely helpful. She likes her students and is genuinely a great person. I took her class two years ago, and still keep in touch with her today as I continue working on my English degree.
