Comment:

Good prof, I think he got stuck with the boring half of 230, biotech and what not but it wasn't that bad. Tests were very easy on that material, just need to know the very basics of how they're used. Not an exciting lecturer, but explains himself and is very helpful.

The course was a huge waste of time and incredibly boring, but on the plus side Dr. deBoer is a really kind man who is very helpful outside of class. His posted notes were helpful but he just isn't the most dynamic presenter. Stay away from biotechnology, but not necessarily Dr. de Boer.

Stay away from this course - soooo dry, midterm was easy but the final was BRUTAL...de Boer is very helpful out of class, but his notes are absolutly terrible, so scattered, very un-clear, it'll take you 5 hours a lecture to go through! No textbook either - he is a very nice prof however, no ego...

He was absolutely horrible at teaching a incredibly boring subject. aka not a good prof. the midterm was super easy, but he made the final (worth 65%) very tough. he was pretty helpful if you go and see him with questions.

The 90 minutes spent in his lecture twice a week were the worst of my week... every week. I literally got a headache from boredom. He brings in a stack of 200 boring overheads, and READS them from top to bottom without elaborating or illustrated. AVOID!!

ridiculous... going to class is literally a waste of time...
