Comment:

When I took his class I hated the subject and he made it interesting and applied it to our current society so that what we were learning had at least a little meaning. The lectures were worthwhile because of that. I'm a CS major so history is the last thing on my mind and Bailey's class was interesting. His tests are not easy but if you take notes and read the material you'll be ok. I think the people that do badly buy the book and use it as a paper weight.

Very difficult to pass. Most of the things he said weren't in the test. One has to listen very closesly in order to make anything above a D. I suggest bringing a tape recorder or something. Cool teacher, just very difficult. Also, study up on your grammar--he makes little notes besides any grammatical errors.

I really liked Mr. Bailey. He was one of the best teachers I have had at LSUS. He made history very interesting. If you listen to what the man says you can make an A. It all depends on how much you put into the class. Whether you agree with his views or not its interesting to hear what he has to say.

A very difficult guy. He rambles, then tests on specifics. He tries to be funny, but is not. He is angry at the system. Just hang in there and you will get a C just for trying and working. His tests are crazy. He likes people to open up for discussion, then tries to blast them. Over all he is ok, just hang in there and keep working.

Strong political and anti-religious posturing; keeps asking questions and brutally rejecting answers til he gets the answer that articulates his views; hurries class through the test, and grades on mechanics; lecture gets better when he's behind schedule - then he can give interesting narratives.

He doesn't seem to care about the testing of his students. He only gives a certain amount of time and it doesn't matter if you are finished or not. He thinks you are done when he says so. I thought when you take a test that you are given the whole 50 minutes to take it.

Bailey is a great teacher. He knows his history for sure. He will bend over backwards for a student. He's also a cool guy to just sit and talk to. He's very open minded, and just an all around genuinely cool guy.

Comment:

Avoid at all costs. Most classes involve personal tirades against conservatives and the religious. Contradicts book and note taking is virtually impossible. The final is the only test where the student will know what to study. Not too difficult but not worth the hassle.

Comment:

Most people say his classes are hard, but they are really easy if you pay attention. He has a wonderful dry humor and is a very intelligent person. I still remember things he said and I had his class 3 years ago.
