He gets off topic rather easily. If you get him talking about partying or traveling it makes the class go by a little faster...not the most interesting class. Def try to get work done ahead of time and ask his advice!!!

This class though not the easiest I've ever taken, was not very difficult at all. The tests were very easy if you went to class. Overall I am sad that Bengston will not be teaching anymore, he is a great person who you can tell really cares about his students and really wants them to learn and discover new ways of thinking about things.

Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. He rambles on and on the whole entire class period. You buy a book you may open a total of three times the whole semester. He makes you watch videos that are interesting, but have nothing to do with the material in class. DON'T TAKE HIM!

This is the worst professor I have ever had. The class is supposed to be about adolescents and we never even talk about adolescents. There is no structure, there is no way to prepare for the tests, and he talks about things that are so off the topic of the course. He will ramble the whole class about nothing relevant. Don't take a class with him.

I took him for EDF3110. He's super interesting but his exams don't follow what he talks about in class. Definitely need to use the book but if you like eclectic professors, he's definitely the guy! He wants us to get the information but you have to ask the right questions.

He doesn't make it complicated, people! The only students who have problems with his classes (and I've taken a few myself) are the ones who can't be bothered to THINK for 50 minutes at a time. On the other hand, if you're willing to engage in real debate - which means being open to the possibility that you're not always right! - you'll love it.

Dr. Bengston was the best professor i have had so far at UF. He takes material that seems at first unrelated, but then turns it into an eye opening realization. He really makes you think and lets you explore different topics that you never thought of. I never looked at the clock as every lecture was extremely interesting. Great guy!

I was foolish to take this class.Even though I saw all of the negative comments, I decided to give him a chance. BIG MISTAKE! He is a nice man,but all the negative comments are true. Very little class structure..doesn't prepare you for what's on the test..rambles a bit..I got 2 A's,& B+ on my report card..he was the odd C in the bunch..stay away

Dr. Bengston's class was the most interesting class I have taken at UF. Although, if you are looking for structure and a comprehensible syllabus, Bengston is not for you. Classes consist of philosophical discussions and going beyond the readings to more abstract concepts. Do the readings and participate in class and you'll do fine.

Disregard all negative comments. People say the tests aren't related and he's not useful but they aren't paying attention. If you sit in discussion and read what he asks (not much!!!) you'll get an A. He's a very interesting man and has a lot to bring to the table. I HIGHLY recommend his class!!!

If you're into philosophy and analyzing every little thing of life then this class is for you. If you're a normal person like everyone else stay away from Dr. Bengston! This class has no structure and none of the material is relevant!! Take it with someone else if you value your time.

Dr. Bengston is very passionate about understanding diversity and has much to offer, however, his test are totally unrelated to what is covered in class. He never gets to class on time or lets you out on time but he is very interesting.

This guy is one of a kind. The class consisted of him sitting in a chair and talking with us. Great guy and super friendly, unfortunetly he doesn't prepare you for the tests. Make sure you read the book even though he never mentions it. Class participation is they key to an A.

HORRIBLE. I didnt learn anything, he talks about what ever he wants (mostly philosophy and sociology) and never relates it to the topic of the class. Rambles on the whole time, tests about subjective material that cannot be studied. Is always late, and always goes over class time, I do NOT recommend him for any class.

great man to learn from. he will not sugarcoat what it is to be in the field, and has a wide array of knowledge. granted yes, he is not there at the time on the dot, but its not like you have to wait , and he loves to talk, so class will run long, but its never mandatory. He wants to know what you think, and always welcomes a challenge. great man

One of the worst professors at UF. Always shows up late then goes over alotted time. Rambles. Answers questions with questions. Does not clearly define subject matter. Does not grade and return assignments in a timely fashion (over 2 months and still waiting). I'm not sure what I learned by taking this class. Only take if absolutely necessary!

I agree, he's always late keeps us over time and seems to ramble over topics that have nothing to do with anything. He's a really nice guy and all but teaching this class, not so much. If you can take another teacher, you might understand a little more about the class.

He was late to class, kept us over class time everyday. This guy was off topic, made up buy an expensive textbook that we barely used. Do not take this guy unless you feel like listening to him talk about himself all day.

SO unorganized, never starts on time and always finishes late! Lectures are about whatever he feels like, not necessarily related to what's on the syllabus. Would not recommend this prof for this class.
