Comment:
Really fantastic professor. I took his Shakespeare class and learned more about the subject matter than I had in any English class. He's not terribly accessible outside of class and could certainly be clearer about what he wanted as far as his papers went, but his classes were very engaging and I learned a lot.

Comment:
I found 101 to be fairly easy, however I was of just a few. Bouchard knows what he's talking about, and once you figure out how to look at small details in a script the class gets very easy. The course doesn't have alot of work outside of class, especially if you are a fast reader, but be warned your grade is based on a few big projects.

He has a very unorthodox way of teaching the class, but by the end of the course I was suprised to find I had learned more and gained more of an appreciation for the subject than I had ever expected to. His personality is a little hard to warm up to at first but after a while he's quite charming.

John is the best professor I ever had. He taught me everything I know about directing, except what I already knew by instinct. But even that, he honed and made conscious.

amazing teacher, though arrogant as hell- rightfully so- he is a brilliant director and anybody is lucky to take a class with him- though you have to be willing to speak up in class because he plays favorites!

After performing for the class after very hard work in memorizing lines and reading through the text. The professors comments were "You completely missed it" and obtained an overall C in the course. It would've been helpful if the professor would've have said "you've missed it.. this is what the author wants/needs from you"

Yes, he can be a jerk...but he's earned a lot of that cockiness. (Although sometimes, he can overdo it) Watch out, though....I've noticed he plays favorites with his students.

His expectations for tests were unclear. You must know the plays inside and out (which is good), but he seems to only want regurgitation of them in the test essays. Emotion takes over professionalism. Not very engaged with students. Class is never boring. Volunteer to get up and read or you'll blend in with the rest of the mass of class.

He's kooky, that's for sure. The class is interesting. He's just a really tough grader and not at all personal with his students. Overall though, he's pretty good.
