I really did enjoy his class in the long run, a lot of class discussions. Keep up with the readings and you will do well. I was doing really poorly at the beginning but after talking to him, I ended up with a B+ for the semester.

By far the worst teacher i have ever taken at Suffolk. He expects you to know the history already, and makes you feel really uncomfortable during class discussions because he picks on people. So if you're not a talker, don't take this class.

One of the most challenging classes I have ever taken, but was def worth it. He makes you earn your grade, but you'll do well if you do the reading. He gives the questions for the mid-term and final ahead of time, and there is only one outside paper (4 pgs min). If your looking for an easy way out, this isn't the class for you.

I had this guy twice... He is really hard.. but the truth is, you learn a lot from him.. He says you must earn your grade and it's the truth. If I could take him more I would. Be prepared to read a lot and ready to answer questions. Also he gives you the questions to the midterm and final.

all memorization and regurgitation, no critical thinking at all. all lecturing, barely any class discussion, and when there was some he interrupted every student he called on. gave me a 'low f' on my midterm and wrote that i had a reading disability. terrible teacher. worst class i have ever taken and i love history. avoid at all costs.

he is awful, closes his eyes while he is lecturing oh and that is all he does. lectures. very old and rambles on, he should have retired already. very very hard grader, he writes more comments on your quizzes/tests than the student does. very boring, doesn't see anybody raising their hands, ignores everyone. just horrible.. do not take him.

John Cavanagh is one of the last breeds of professors who makes you earn your grade. He doesn't want to just hand out grades- he wants you to learn. If you put in the time and effort he will reward you. He's one of my favorite profs at Suffolk.

This guy is really tough. Lots of reading and class discussions are intimidating. Not just facts but learning how to interpret events. Luckily there is no HW or essays, Just 1 paper and few pop quizzes (he gives you a heads up though which defies the purpose). If you enter this class knowing it is 382 then expect hard work; reading 30 pgs a night

This man is crazy, but the good kind. He has like five pairs of glasses he keeps in different pockets for (one would assume) different reading distances. He tapes things to his face. This guy is very interested in what he teaches and expects you to be just as interested. You've got to work to do well, as he is a fairer grader than one expects. That is to say, A = excellent, and you won't get an A for anything less.
