Extremely interesting class. He kept it fun with odd comments and humor. Includes four tests with review sessions for each, and pulls questions straight from lectures. Also writes notes on the board for you to follow along with. Great class.

Lively, fun, delivers information accurately and efficiently, nothing but 4 tests which are not hard if you pay attention in class and study some. Very interesting topic as well. Highly recommended.

Dr Cowan was great. Not only could you tell he really loved what he taught, but he taught it in such a way that you loved it too. He introduces you to content and ideas you have never been introduced to before, which at times makes the class tough. But overall, a fantastic professor.

Comment:

His interest in Astronomy is contagious. I love this class just because of how he teaches it. If you take careful notes and show interest in what he says, you'll ace the tests. Discussion is little help except for the quizzes. Practice exams and crossword puzzles to help study. Also mass study sessions. He wants you to pass. He's super nice.

He's really good at putting massive ideas into analogies that students can comprehend. That's what I love most about him. His tests are usually easy with information from most of his lectures, and he even gives you a practice exam to know exactly what to study.

Cowan was definitely my favorite professor. His class is pretty easy but requires a little bit of effort, and he expects you to learn. His lectures were interesting, easy to follow, and usually hilarious. He talks about astronomy in such an awe-struck voice that you can't help but think it's interesting.

He is a wonderful professor full of energy and loves science. However the subject matter is very difficult and sometimes hard to understand. This course requires a lot of studying for a 1000 level course and the discussion section is rather boring. I do not recommend it for your physical science credit, however as a professor he is wonderful.

I love Dr.Cowan! He's so interested in what he's teaching that you become interested. He uses lots of fun analogies and has fun with little easy demonstrations from time to time. He's a great guy, and I liked my TA a lot! She was really helpful. This class is easy as long as you go and take the notes, it's all there in the notes!

Dr.Cowan was great! He's so hot! The class is easy as long as you go and write notes. Just don't expect the tests to be easy. The final is hard,too! In the long run, you will learn a lot.

Totally freaking awesome!!! He really gets you interested and knows what he is talking about. I loved his class. The final exam was hard, but overall I thought the class was graded fairly. Ta's were...well.....okay....but Dr. Cowan was awesome!!!!!

This teach is awesome. He works so hard to get you interested that its almost impossible to not become excited yourself. He makes the info easy, and is clear on what you need to know. If you need to take astr, take his class. Tests aren't too hard, plus there is a big curve on them all.
