Comment:

Great lecturer, was dull but you knew what you were expected to know. He loves plants (he's a corn breeder) so I enjoyed his lectures. Made things very understandable. Stays on schedule and sticks to what he says. I would take another class with him. LOVED the fact that lowest quiz grade got dropped!

Comment:

Co-teaches with the worst professor who is sure to make the class miserable and incredibly difficult, which sadly ends up overshadowing Doebly's good professorial qualities. But with that aside, Doebly is great - amiable, clear, funny. I especially enjoyed his qualitative genetics section. His exam questions are predictable and easy to study for.

Doebley is pretty good, and he actually seems to realize that this stuff is hard for most people, unlike Laughon. Only complaint I have is that the class is fairly statistics-intensive, so much so that stats should probably be a prereq.

This guy is great. He explains all his slides so well. He gives out handouts with additional problems, and they'll VERY similar to the exam problems. If you know how to do the handout problems, the exams are a breeze.

Professor Doebly is fantastic. His lectures are crystal clear and interesting. He speaks clearly and provides additional handouts for each lecture with practice problems and examples. A truly great and inspirational professor.

This is a hard class, but if you have to take it try to get in it with Doebly. The professor for the middle section was impossible but the first and last section by Doebly were very well taught!

I'm not sure why anyone would complain about the math/stats in this class...it's not hard, and he explains it very well. Lectures are well-organized, expectations are clear, and exam questions were more than fair. His "handouts" made even the difficult concepts easy to understand. I would highly recommend him for this class.

He was alright. The material was crap, and unfortunately for me, I had never taken a stats class before this..it should be a prereq.. Still, Doe Boy Fresh isn't bad. Plus it's fun to listen to him pronounce "Exom"

a great prof, a clear lecturer, exams not too bad but there were a few stumpers on them, overall, not too bad, i ended up with an AB in the class so it isnt hard to pass, believe me!!!

I am surprised at the other comments. His tests are difficult and based more-so on the statistics aspects than other genetics professors, but he is approachable and wants you to do well. If you go to his office hours he is excited to help and takes note of the fact you came-he writes down your name. Tests are based off lectures notes - study those
