Comment:
Prof. Donahue is very engaging and a funny professor. He cares about his students succeeding by giving a lot of opportunities for extra credit. His tests are based off of the class lectures so going to class is mandatory. He doesn't post slides and assigns readings from the textbook which can be a lot if you skip one.

Interesting class, and good if you want to get a big picture of Roman History. Donahue is a fun lecturer but a pretty hard grader.

SNOOZEVILLE. He is a nice guy, but talks just like a South Park character (mmkay?) Class was really boring but have to go to for notes. Very disappointed, since Pagans & Christians sounded like such a fun topic of study!

Professor Donahue was very nice and very helpful. He was pretty laid back, but he expects you to do the work. He grades fairly, though it took him a while to grade exams and assignments. He knew the material well and enjoyed teaching it. Class was very enjoyable.

I loved this class purely because Donahue is very clear and interesting when he teaches. I didn't keep up with the readings but because he covered the material so thoroughly and interestingly, I felt very prepared for all the exams. Really enjoyed this class.

Professor Donahue is smart, clear, and funny. What more can you ask for in a professor? He is a really fair grader and appreciates it if you come to class and are prepared. I enjoyed his class.

Prof. Donahue is friendly, enthusiastic, and always imbues his exercises and lectures with a good sense of humor. Latin is interesting, but can be a somewhat dry, technical subject. Donahue navigates it with ease. If you're lucky, he'll pull out his Kennedy impression.

Comment:
He teaches straight from the textbook so that's mandatory. He has a deep understanding of Latin and is a great teacher. Class attendance is mandatory as missing something is going to slow you down for the rest of the semester (usually like this with any language). He wants his students to pass and likes to help whenever asked.

Lectures are interesting and clear, but he has a weird way of speaking and more visuals might be nice. Tests are straightforward, but way too long, and he only took three grades. Helpful outside of class.

From his lectures and the textbook you'd expect the tests and paper to be relatively straightforward but don't be fooled. VERY picky grader and loads of names and events to memorize. not enough time for midterm. if you're interesteed in classics you probably know all that was mentioned in this class anyway (recap of greek civ). not recommended

dont take his class unless you really love to memorize extremely long and mostly obscure lists of names, places, dates, etc. and then being expected to regurgitate as many of them as possible onto a midterm that he gives you too little time to complete. did not enjoy his class.

Prof. Donahue is a genuinely good guy. He was very friendly, and very helpful. The assignments were straightforward, and his expectations were realistic. If you do the homework, than it's pretty easy to get a good grade. The subject matter wasn't always the most riveting, but he did his best to try to make it painless.

Professor Donahue is more interested in his research than teaching. The class I took with him was nearly unbearable. I heard that he was really nice, but it seems like once he got tenure he turned in Mr. Hyde! Avoid him if you want to save yourself some misery!

interesting professor, knows his stuff. make sure to know a lot about ID's on the tests. he says "uh" every 3 words, which can get annoying at times. for the most part, a good professor.

nice guy, clear lectures, interesting, but his midterm was kinda tough. he picked obscure terms for us to define and too long, but his final was fair (he knew we were pissed). 50 pages aweek reading. his voice is interesting.. lots of uhhs and the southpark stuff--funny or annoying-depends on you

Lectures were pretty good, but sometimes what he said directly contradicted the book. Very nitpicky on tests, you have to have exactly what he wants on IDs which is problematic since the test is too long for the time period. Offers extra credit that doesn't seem to raise the grade. Overall not bad.

He's a great professor, and, uh, uh, interesting to, uh, talk to. He explains is classes well, and, uh, his tests aren't uh, uh too bad, right? The only, uh, downside is his voice, right?, and that he likes uh, the Red Sox.
