I literally just graduated from FSU and am going to miss it a lot. If I had to pick one class from my time at Florida State that benefited me the most, it would be this one. Fradel is a challenge but his questions really make you think and I learned so much about the world. He is absolutely hilarious. He should be on television.

I saw Fradel at the game on Saturday. He is still hilarious and sarcastic. I took him as a freshman. Great class. Had a big impact on me and my life. Love the man.

He used to tell us in class that if we were IA majors and were looking for a job that we should practice saying welcome to Walmart. Fradel, I was an IA major and I am in my fifth year as a US foreign service officer. :-) This was a good class though, learned a lot that has helped me. I strongly recommend. He was a great story teller.

He has been everywhere and the stories he tells are amazing. We all thought he was a covert CIA agent and that makes it even better. His classes enjoyable and subject matter tolerable.

Best Professor ever! I absolutely loved this course. Knows a lot about the subject and had been everywhere that he talks about. He is ALWAYS organized and prepared for class, great power points, videos and even better lectures. Funny, charismatic. He made it exciting to learn about. You have to pay attention and study pretty hard before the test.

Funny guy. His lectures are really clear but you have to study for his tests, just write everything down and you will pass the test. The class is inspirational and effective it makes you want to travel the world. Loved this teacher, I took him twice.

Fradel is brilliant! His Middle East class is a must take! Tests are fairly hard, but if you study well enough you will be fine. He really cares about his students and is always willing to help during his office hours. He also has great stories of his travels around the world. He is not scared to give alternative views on the most controversial top

I will be getting my PhD next Saturday and this class (took it as a freshman) is still the hardest one that I have ever had and the most beneficial. He was also very helpful outside of class and always good for a interesting conversation.

I had Fradel for the six week World Regional Geography summer course and I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Note that attendance is critical and will impact your grade big time. Also show up ON TIME or he won't let you in. The guy is totally hilarious. Overall it's a very easy and enjoyable class. I recommend it.

had 3 classes with him and each one was better than the one before. 2 things make him a good instructor. First, he knows everything about everyplace cuz he has been there and done it. Second, he can tell a good story. He is soooooo funny. If every old NSA and CIA employee came to teach at FSU we would have a ton of great professors

Fradel is the MAN. You can tell that he has been teaching for a while and knows exactly what he is doing. I loved all of his stories about the places that he has been. It was great having a teacher who has actually been every place that he talks about. You don't want to miss class. It is much harder than you would expect for a 1000 level.

Great professor with great lectures. You have to have a clicker but this is actually pretty good because he makes a game out of it. No out of class work but the tests are difficult. You have to attend and he is ridiculous about being late and using cell phones. Be prepared to study a lot if you expect an A.

One of the BEST professors at FSU. You need to be engaged in the lessons and lesson to him and outline the notes before arrival. It is a 1000 level course that will be one of the HARDEST classes you take if you are not use to lecture style teaching. He has office hours in case you don't want to ask questions in front of everyone. TOTALLY RECOMMEND!

Still the best class I had in my time at Florida State. He is a crazy man with all of his stories. The clickers questions are the highlight of the class. I will never forget the lesson on how to use an Indian toilet. Highly recommend.

Hands down the most rewarding class that I've taken at FSU. Extremely fun to listen to, always had interesting personal stories for each country. This is one of the few classes that I looked forward to going to and that I learned something that I'll never forget.

Comment:

Maybe once in a college career there will be a teacher who really teaches and has a major impact on the students. John Fradel is one of these. He is passionate, informative and entertaining. Even in a huge class he made personal connections with his students. He treated us more like friends than students and it made the class so much better
