This is the worst teacher I've ever had. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He was way more difficult than what was necessary. He is rude and very boring. He doesn't use canvas so it is hard to stay on top of everything. He is the perfect example of an out of date teacher that should retire or be replaced immideately.

He is a good teacher, but rambles a lot in class. You have to go to class to get assignments because he doesn't use canvas and he takes attendance. You are guaranteed a B if you do all assignments (there are many) and papers. You are basically guaranteed A if edit your papers twice and turn them in for feedback.

Dr. Hagerty is an amazing professor and an even better person. His class isn't an easy A by any means, but if you show up and complete all the assignments, you are guaranteed a B. He only gives A's based on good writing skills and hard work. Even if you aren't good at English, he will help you if you show him you are trying your best. He's awesome

Very involved teacher. Gives outstanding feedback and really goes the extra mile, even when he doesn't know much on the topic. It seems like a lot of work, but he makes it easy to know what to expect. Great teacher.

A good teacher, but not great. Class is mandatory, you get very few absences before being given an FA. His lecturing is very rambling, so you can just come to class and zone out and you'll be good. Fairly vague on grading procedure, and the entire class is graded on a portfolio at the end. He is very helpful with feedback, and does care about you.

This is one of the few professors that really gets down and dirty with what you're working on. He genuinely cares about his students' work. It was a very involved class, but an experience that will propel me into the professional world.

I have mixed feelings about this class. I am someone who typically hates writing, so I did not enjoy the course. Hagerty is a very caring professor, and really wants his students to reach their best though. While there are many assignments, they actually do help you in your future papers and are well thought out. But i dislike his grading system.

He is a beyond helpful teacher. You can go by his office at any time, & he even gives you a phone number that you can call him on for help. The class does have an assignment for almost every class day, but they aren't too hard & they help you w/your papers. You have four large papers do throughout the term. As long as you do your work, you're fine

Easy. Tries to make it sound like it is hard to get an A and then most (everyone that I know of) end up with exactly that in the end. Revise EVERY paper at least twice and you are pretty much guaranteed an A. Class is pointless, never read the assigned material from the textbooks. Just do the homework assignments, go to class, and you'll be GOLDEN.

He talks forever and is relatively boring, but he is willing to help you with your papers. He grades using the portfolio system which can be very frustrating, but it does allow you to revise your papers multiple times until the end of the semester when you submit them.

The class wasn't really hard, but I had a terrible time sitting through it all semester. I love English, but this class was awful. Hagerty is so unclear about what he wants but talks for the whole class period, only wasting time. You dont get a grade until the end of the semester because you turn in all papers at once. It's frustrating.

Hagerty is an OK teacher, but talks WAY too much during class. He takes nearly half the period to read an assignment that can take you half the time or less to complete outside of class. The essay topics weren't bad; it was revising them that was a pain. Definitely expect to put time into this class to get an A.

All he does is talk the whole class period and you have to be there. He alternates class in a classroom and in the computer lab and you can bring your laptop and do whatever. He grades hard, expects you to do tons of revisions, and makes no sense sometimes but he is pretty helpful in telling you what to do to make an A

He NEVER stops talking and repeats himself the entire time. He uses a portfolio system, so nothing is graded until after the final. I find him incredibly boring and not very helpful. Conferences with him tend to be a time for him to tell you what you already know about your paper. He also gives tons of small writing assignments that seem pointless

The class isn't hard, there are just multiple tedious short in class/hw writing assignments. They are for completion though so slap some stuff together and do the revisions he asks. Talk to him about revisions of major papers in his office, you got an A. Cool dude too, more entertaining then most profs.

Im kinda so so on him. The class is constantly Paper after paper after paper and it kinda gets to you. He grades the FRW and Journals based on completion instead of content. Be ready for some major revisions on you papers. He gives good pointers and over all his class is very interesting and makes you think. The portfolio system is convinet by scar

Do not take this guy, he uses a portfolio thing, where he doesn't grade anything until after the final. I revised all of my papers, some of them multiply times and still I only got a B.

Do NOT take. He will annoy you to death because all he does is ramble which wastes your work time. Also, doesn't grade ANYTHING until the final, so you never know what you have, and he can't tell you either. Horrible teacher, and I even like english. A LOT of unnecessary busy work, and for revisions he wants you to totally rewrite your papers.

I feel like this class actually did improve my writing skills; it requires constant revision of your papers. Your end grade depends on how much effort you put into revisions. If you want an A, it is attainable. If you really don't care about your writing skills, I would recommend a less demanding class.
