I absolutely loved this professor. Take his advice and write down his notes, these will be on the final exam. Make sure to print out your outline and be prepared to speak. A great grader and really tries to relate to his students.

Mr. Hanke is awesome. He is really easygoing and the class is easy if you show up and put in minimum effort. His jokes may come off a little rude at times, but he means no harm. Recommend.

I took public speaking, and it was a breeze. Just follow the outline format, and be spontaneous, and you'll do great in this class. He's funny, but his humour isn't everyone's cup of tea. Be respectful, and participate, and you'll pass with an A. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. also bring him food, especially lumpia.

I took Professor Hanke's class in the summer, and it was a breeze. You are mostly at liberty to pick your speech topic as long as it is structured in the specific way requested. Extremely easy A. If you know anything about lumpia, do a speech on it!

I liked Hanke at first. Nice, personable, easy. Well he's still easy, but too personable for my liking. I feel like every class, he picks on one person or the next, talks over them, makes fun at their expense, and makes disturbing comments. I only like that this class is easy, but trust me, if your nerves get plucked easily, don't sign up!!!

Mr. Hanke is a hoot, he always has something to say. sometimes says more about things than he should but he is reasonable and you will ace the speeches if you come prepared. the final is open textbook and there are 3 speeches throughout the entire semester. You'll be glad you took him. Oh and the easiest way to contact him is though Facebook.

Mr. Hanke gets off topic a lot and sometimes it's really annoying but he's a great guy and very understanding. He's a great guy and a great person to talk to. It's obvious he really cares about his students. If you don't go to class & participate your grade will take a big hit but he gives several extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.

Professor Hanke's class is not tough HOWEVER, he waits till the last minute to tell you what your grade is. If he puts in the wrong grade for you, you basically have to beg him to change it. His lectures go on a tangent, we pretty much only had 2 lectures (nothing he talked about was on the final.) Final was open notes (bc you don't learn much).

His group projects are fairly easy, but he will let you act "animals" on first group assignment to overcome fear of being in front of people. I learned how to give a public speech by watching TED better. You should have 3*5 card during your speech. Mr. Hanke is pretty old, he says things whatever he wants! It can make a whole class uncomfortable.

Everyone loves Mr. Hanke, and I have nothing negative to say about him personally. His class is super easy, and honestly kind of a joke. If you're looking for an easy A, this is the class for you. However, if you're looking for thorough instruction and actually want to learn how to write and give professional speeches, you will be disappointed.

If you need to taking public speaking, take it with Mr. Hanke! Four speeches, but if you follow his advice, you're bound to get an A. You do have to take notes though cause they're on the final, but it's easy if you study the study guide he provides and his notes. Best professor I've had here at ODU and he will help you if you need it.

Mr. Hanke is the best teacher I've taken since entering in 2010. Gives helpful tips for successful speaking. He's such a down to earth man you have to love him. Fair grading, makes class worthwhile, and such a great speaker himself (you wouldn't mind listening to him rant)! Trust me, take Mr. Hanke and you'll see why everyone else loves him too!
