This class is pure memorization. The professor doesn't do lectures well as he tends to get off topic and seems to care more about fantasy football and his Facebook page more than teaching the class. The book is not mentioned. You can just tell he's not a passionate teacher. He is well informed on the subject, though. Take another prof.

Harvey is an incredible professor. Amazing lectures on economics from a perspective that really makes sense and he is sure to bring real-world economic events into his lectures so they're not based in abstracted scenarios. Hilarious lectures and he's always available for questions outside of class.

Comment:

Dr. Harvey is one of the best professors at TCU. He gives hilarious lectures, and I enjoyed coming to his class. He gives you study questions that are exactly the same ones on the tests, but you still have to study and pay attention in class to do well. The entire class was 3 tests, but students can earn an easy A if they put in the effort.

Harvey is a great guy & very entertaining as a person, but his lectures can get boring as he often talks about random things that don't relate to the class. The test comes straight from the study questions, but there are very few questions on the test. If you are a fan of memorizing material word by word then spewing it out a day later, take him.

Great professor! Took him for Economic Controversies and got way more out of the class than expected. You must write out the study guide but the test comes straight from the guide! One of the best professors I have ever experienced. Definitely worth taking if you want to learn!

extremely nice guy, tests are straightforward, but his lectures are incredibly painful (in the boring sense) to sit through. If you can take him on a M/W/F for 50 minutes do it, sitting through 1hr 20min is rough. Wish there were fewer study questions per test as he only asks a small number of them and you memorized so many.

Harvey is a TCU treasure. I tell literally every TCU studwnt to take him if they get a chance. In this class, it is unfair to say that the classes are hard. Your grade will DIRECTLY reflect how much you work and care for and about the class. You earn any grade you get in a Harvey class. He is hysterical! You will be sad to miss lecture.

I LOVED this class. Dr Harvey is so funny and entertaining and makes the class relatable to students. He is always helpful and responds to emails. He gives out "study questions" in the beginning of the year and it is just memorization for the test. If you try and memorize you will do fine.

Great teacher who does a wonderful job making the material make sense & fun. Really great about emailing back in a timely fashion and will answer any question you have. The tests are harder than they may seem when he explains at the beginning of the semester. Takes off for smaller things...that begin to add up. LISTEN TO HIM ABOUT HOW TO STUDY

He gives you the study questions but it is ridiculous how he just wants you to remember stuff... I would like to learn it and not just memorize it. He give you like 60 questions with answers ranging from 10 words to 400 words. He will only use 15 of those on the test so... Try memorizing 3000 words and contexts to then only need to know 300.

I love Dr. Harvey! Took him for Advanced Macro and Intl Econ. Great professor and always willing to help. His tests are pretty much all memorization so take that into consideration...I don't mind doing a lot of memorizing but if it's not your style you'll struggle with tests. He lectures in a very practical way -- econ finally makes sense!

If you are an econ major, hes awesome. He obviously cares about the majors, even to the point where he will go out of his way to help you. Ive only had him for micro, but plan to take as many courses as possible from him. You always know what will be on the test. If you are not good at econ, I wouldnt suggest him as the hell section could hurt you.

Material obviously is not easy, but I had McCraw and she was AWFUL, Dr. Harvey is fantastic, he wants you to do really well and share his passion for economics. He gives you word for word test questions and answers the first day of class and helps you get thru them until the test. Best teacher, fun and helpful!! Take him!

I have had Dr. Harvey for 6 classes. I can honestly say he is the best professor at TCU. It is by no means easy but I promise you will learn a lot and have a great time doing it. It is impossible to be bored in his class, great professor.

He's easily my FAVORITE economics professor!! I've had him for two classes and I really wish I could take his 'contending perspectives in macroeconomics' class this coming semester, but I don't have any space for it :( Harvey can be tough, but he grades fairly and you will have a strong understanding of the material by the end of the course.
