I love Professor Hughes! I wish he was my advisor. His lectures are interesting, and you can tell he loves his job! I can't wait to take more difficult, intricate classes with him. He is hilarious, and will help you as much as you ask him to-- he makes you advocate for yourself, but I don't think that is a bad thing. Bottom line, take his class.

this man is one of the best professors at Saint Mikes. Easily one of my favorite professors here. The lectures can be long some days but he throws in sarcastic comments here and there to make those days better. That being said study for the tests because he is a hard grader.

His lectures can be boring but he throws in a joke or two once in a while to keep people interested. Some classes are better then others. I've missed a couple classes and hasn't affected anything. Reading is only homework I've had all semester and its basically optional. I've hardly opened the books and still follow what he talks about.

I LOVE JOHN HUGHES. He is mind-bogglingly brilliant and hilarious. I have had 3 classes with him and wish he taught EVERY class at SMC. Definitely take a class with him; people say he is hard, but he's just particular. Furthermore, the only hw is reading, which is pretty much optional. I have gotten an A in his class never having cracked the book.

Prof Hughes is very funny. He has a bit of a liberal stint to him but not overly so and he bashes both sides pretty much without mercy. I find the class extremely enjoyable and informative. I'd recommend Hughes to anyone in the PolySci department.

I've had Hughes for con law, CJ and capital punishment.The clearest and most knowledgeble lecturer I've had anywhere. Definitely agree w/others about the tests, u have to remember details of material as well as what he said.Know your notes cold before you take the test.Do that, u get a good grade. Hilarious, you will learn and laugh.I Def reccomend

I've had him five times. -Take good notes and study them- Read the material for the sake of context and the ability to remember detail on exams. Loves to give B's. Highest grade you can get is an A-, unless you're incredible. Very intelligent guy. Love the dry humor, really grows on you.

The tap dancing, the spinning plates, the occasional pyrotechnics were all to be expected, but the trained seal act topped all expectations. Definitly sign up for this course--early, as there is a two year waiting list.
