I love him as a teacher. He has a lot of sass. Gives a lot of intel on things going around in school. Has lots of airplane advice. Only bad thing is his handwriting is terrible.

Comment:

Keating was one of the professors that spoke his mind, I enjoyed his lectures and bluntness. His tests are open book/notes & it helps a lot to do your homework when it comes to the tests to look over at. Don't be afraid to ask questions either when he's going over a question or whatever, he will show as many examples till you get it.

Professor Keating in my experiences in having 2 classes with him. As well as numerous side conversations. Excellent Guy! He knows his stuff very well! With 50+ years of experience in mathematics. Humorous, witty, and fresh at times. Either you really like him or dislike him. Excellent for Airplane/Travel info too! He speaks his mind.

just like everyone else is saying this guy talks about airlines and traveling for 20 minutes of the class then just does homework problems the entire class and is basically a self learning class and he only gives a couple tests that are much harder than the material you learn in class

Take this class at your own risk! Attendance is mandatory but if you missed one class, you will be screwed. Hard grader and the tests are much harder than the material we actually learned in class. He's also obsessed with his airline experiences. Be prepared to drop this class or dedicate yourself entirely to this class.

He's the most awful prof i have ever taken. i usually get A's and B's when it comes to math class. But ever since i took keating, i started getting F's. He's always sarcastic, and you can never see him for extra help. Hes lectures are bad, He's like solving a problem by himself and the students are irrelevant. Worst handwriting as well.

Do not take!! He is awful, he thinks he's hilarious but has a very odd sense of humor. He'll even rant about politics and airline flight prices for a good 15-20 mins from time to time. As far as his teaching goes, he assumes you know how to do all the material from previous math classes at a professors level, so he WHIPS through notes. DO NOT TAKE

I took this class last semester: When you ask questions in class he tells you that you should've learned it in high-school. He expects you to do atleast 16 hours of homework a week, and HE NEVER GOES OVER IT. He then will continue to go at a fast pace and not teach his students. AWFUL.

Pay attention on the test's corrections, he always say you are wrong when you are right. If he changes your grade make sure you keep checking he did it. If you do not understand make sure you ask for extra help. He runs teaching. Sometimes comes with a answer without explain where he got from. Ask questions and you will be alright.

I wish I found Professor Keating sooner. I took him for Statistics intercession and the 4 hours FLEW by. If you can't take humor then he isn't the professor for you. He loves telling stories and making people laugh. He is in my 7am and is willing to help ANYONE that needs help. He is extremely sarcastic and it was a GREAT course.

He is a very funny guy! Very helpful if I have a question or need help. He wants you to succeed and if you show interest and is motivated and shows up all the time he will put his time and make sure you pass the class. Very reasonable professor as well. Will take him again for STAT.

I would strongly suggest to stay away from him. Hes a funny guy and all he talks about is planes. His tests are open book but good luck trying to read his handwriting and keeping up with how fast he talks. Then if you ask him a question, he'll probably look at you stupid.

Took Keating for Intro to Stats and Math Topics. I wish I could take every math class with him! All tests are open book and open notebook. Easy A. If you ask him a question, he's very clear and helpful. He is a very sassy man! Just laugh at his jokes and he will love you. Really good professor, cares about the students when you reach out for help.

If math isn't second nature and want to pass at all then don't take a class with this professor. He is rude, doesn't answer questions and will make you feel stupid for asking a question. Gets so off topic it wastes almost the whole class and he always talks about politics. Just a waste of time, half of my class dropped.

Honestly, this was the easiest class I have taken, not many tests and if there were any they were only 3 questions. Everything is open note and open book, so there is no way you wouldn't get an A. He is hard to follow but if you passed math sophomore year of high school you should be good.

Professor Keating is a very difficult professor. Halfway through the semester half of our class had dropped. He goes off topic about flying often. He teaches the material very fast and seems to get annoyed when students ask questions in class. He will provide extra help but you must pursue him for it.
