He's an all-around great guy. Your typical type of teacher. Very smart. If you put enough effort into his course, you will do well. Recommended for anyone, especially if you plan on persuing government.

A TRUE SAVAGE. This old man's lectures are so dry and funny I was very disappointed. A very straightforward class with an unbelievable easy midterm. Don't let him fool you in the beginning, he is so funny and an independent lol. Recommend for any gov majors or anyone looking to fulfill a requirement.

He's a nice guy, but his lectures are very boring and teach you nothing. You don't really need to pay attention in class or actually attend to do well since he usually just re-teaches the same 30+ pages of the textbook you have to read for each class. The response papers assigned for each reading are also easy and doable in less than 30 minutes.

Far too much work for an intro course. He does things by the book, and doesn't really consider how his scheduling decisions might impact others; he seems okay with some students having 30+ pages of reading, a 10 page paper, and a 300 word response all due 2 days before finals, even though they have other ones to study for (inc. one for his class).

He assigns a lot of work, but grades pretty easily as long as you show some effort. Mid-term exam was laughably easy at some times. Lots of writing for a class that doesn't carry a W - weekly 300 word response papers, a 5 page article review, and a 10 page persuasive essay. Lectures are hit or miss - some can really drag on, others are not too bad.

Has unreasonable expectations for students - multiple papers + multiple exams + lots of reading. Don't believe what people say - neither he nor the course is easy in any way.

Very boring and assigns way too much reading for an intro class. Grades very harshly on textbook response papers.

Took Govt 101 (Us Politics) w/ him. Incredibly simple. Go to class & answer no brainer questions (even if they seem rhetoric) & it should be an easy A. He grades participation really harshly so definitely raise your hand and mention lectures to him that can remotely relate to govt stuff and attending them w/ a brief summary gets you extra credit

Took both State & Local and Federalism w/ Him. Teaches in the same format, 2 papers 2 tests. Typically marks for class attendance, you can still get a B if you never go though. Tests need 3+/- hrs of study for a low A. Papers in his upper levels are graded harder, expect a B+ if you spend time. Teaches BOTH sides, not overly liberal, I recommend!

Really Really smart professor. Not extremely entertaining but he is so smart that you always learn a lot. Two essays and a 50 question multiple choice essay were the only grades. Office hours were reliable and very helpful. Highly recommend taking any class he teaches.

The best gov. you can take as a freshmen. He is a nice guy & knows his stuff. Has left this semester for 3 different countries for 'advising.' Downside- we have to watch and take notes on movies when he is gone. You have 2 papers and 2 tests with 1 final. He grades papers easy but his tests (mult choice) aren't easy, & have some trick questions.

His tests don't really have to do with what he teaches. Super picky on papers(wants does not instead of doesn't). Not worth taking

Actually he is less entertaining than watching paint dry. I would prefer a nice big can of eggshell latex-based to having to sit through his boring-ass class.
