Fr LaRocca is the MAN. Grtst Professor, I have ever had he is witty and intelligent, by far 1 of the most caring men I have evr met. If he likes you get rdy for an A+ if he doesn't like you then check urself bc I am sure there is a good reason for that. Hes sarcastic and will mess with you don't take it personally. Comment:

Father LaRocca is a nice guy with a very dry, very funny sense of humor and I enjoyed that aspect of this class, however, I found myself being constantly frustrated with the way he grades papers. Though, overall, he is very knowledgeable about history and I enjoyed how passionate he seems to be about teaching the subject.

Father Larocca is Xavier University. No tests just occasional 1 question quizzes and a midterm/final paper. Being a history class, lectures get boring but he lets you go early every time and cancels class occasionally. Go to his friday pasta dinner. He is a little old-school but once you get to know him he's a great guy. Take him.

He will forever be my least favorite teacher. I could not tell you a single thing I learned in class. Not to mention, he told us how much he disliked out class daily. He singles kids out in class and made me (someone who loves accent history) hate history. Then he goes on to say, "So what? Report me. I have tenure." DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS

One of the best teachers at XU; he is very insightful and full of sarcasm. If you put any effort into the essays and you'll at least get a b-. Quizzes are frequent but easy, just definitions or open note short answer. If you like history this is one of the Proffs to have.

Father LaRocca is the man, regardless of what anyone says. If you read the material he assigns and participate in class you'll walk out with a B, no problem. Doesn't give As very often. Quizzes based on vocab/stud sheets. Two or three papers. Very funny guy, I loved his class.

Father Larocca's class is a great guy and a fun prof. The man has a humor rarely found in academics and sarcasm drier than Buenger Hall on weekends. He doesn't rely much on the the texts you're required to get, and you aren't tested over material in lectures, so that was a pain. Take time to go try his pasta on Fridays or see him in office hours.

Slept through 90% of his classes. Do NOT take him if you can help it. Extremely extremely boring. Useless class. Very nice guy though. Lots of busy work outside of class for quizzes. You do nothing in class but try your hardest to understand and stay awake during his ramblings.

Father LaRocca is an old school professor.All he wants is class participation(10% of grade).I noticed alot of people do not get involved, they are just there.I thought it was a fun class, and he has alot of knowledge to pass on.Three papers over the semester, 4 pages each, are the bulk of your grade.He also gives quizzes on the reading.Recommend!

John LaRocca is an extremely helpful professor if you put forth the effort. He shows interest in you as a student if you sincerely show interest in his course and the readings. I barely did the weekly assignments in accordance to the schedule but still took a lot from his class. Work with him on your papers and seek him out for help.

Seriously, he is a nice, funny guy, but awfully boring. Class is a snore....there is nothing to talk about so he just rambles about the readings that nobody reads. A research paper, couple of midterm essays, and that's it generally.

Bring something to entertain yourself during class. You're never tested on anything he says. His lectures are just his stream of consciousness. Brags about himself a lot. If your a male athlete take his class. He'll give you bs grades. Focuses on writing more than knowledge of the material. It's kind of like a really boring literature class.
