Took Dr. Lee's Vector Calculus in Fall, 1989. It was the best math class I took at OSU. He is a great man...Dr. Lee, thank you! You inspired me to follow through and earn my math degree. I still love Vector Calc!

So the class is divided into 2 parts an algebraic matrix part and a calculus power series part. The first part is easy enough just pay attention to John's lectures and examples and is basically review on matricies. The second part is a doozy it will hit hard, John teaches it fine but the final was devestating, do the best you can in the first half

Great prof. I didn't have him for calc, but took 306 from him and feel that he did a great job explaining everything and made it easy enough to understand if you simply pay attention. His enthusiasm for the subject definitely helps.

Very smart guy and explains things in class very well, but then you go home and try to do the homework. He wrote the book and it needs help. Need class examples and book examples to only half understand homework questions.

Cant believe I even passed this class. The linear algebra part was easy but the infinite series was impossible. His examples (in class and book, since he wrote it) are way too easy compared to the homework so a lot of learning is done by the student. Total genius but doesn't know how to teach probably. Lecture consists of one long run-on sentence.

I think the people below are just freshman and aren't used to having a REAL professor - one who expects you to actually read the textbook. Professor Lee does a fine job - he explains the concepts very slowly and clearly as well as provides examples that match the type of problems on the tests. Maybe those people below shouldn't be in college...

The material in this class is not difficult to understand, but John is the hardest grader in the math department. Avoid him if you can.

He basically isnt good at all. He can talk for 50 minutes straight and you'll have no idea what he just said at all. His tests and quizes are also pretty difficult. After one quiz I almost kicked through a wall I was so pissed, seriously!

The online homework and quizes are the worst. The homework choses random parts of the problem for you to place your answers. I am a step by step person, if a single step is missed I am lost, the homework and the teaching tends to jump all of the small important steps in the middle I need to survive to the Larger more important steps everyboy else cares about.

If your major is math or if you really wanna study math, not for just getting a grade I strongly recommend u to take a class from him. He might be the one, who really know what the math is. His tests and h.w is hard but after finishing his class we will realize that u learned a lot and enough to bear the next math class.

No, take someone else if you can, not good. He goes off on random tangents that just make it really hard to pay attention so when he DOES have a point you are so confused already that all you know is there is colored chalk on the board... yay.

Made everything seem easy in lecture by only doing EXTREMELY easy examples but made test pretty difficult. Also, had online multiple choice math quizzes which were VERY difficult. I think the class average on them was about 60%...
