Professor John is really interested in the history of Native Americans and social justice pertaining to minorities. He is a down to earth type of personality and grades fairly. One of the best classes I have taken.

He's a really chill professor. Some interesting topics for papers. Class was kind of pointless for your grade most of the time, but was fun. Got out of class early all the time. Not really sure what he was looking for in papers, but I think he wasn't too picky. Easy A with little effort. Highly recommend.

He is not only a great professor, but he is also a great person! He changed how I view myself...we have the same beliefs, which is nice. I am taking him now for English composition 1001! I totally recommend, if your schedule allows. Too bad next year(2014-2015) will be his last year. He is very funny, too and has us write about interesting topics!

Greatest thing that will happen to you academically while at UC is being in John Maddux's class. Really cool dude with never a boring thing to say. As someone who hates writing, his topics for papers are so interesting that I enjoy it. Go out of your way to make sure you are in his class.

I just started the class & I LOVE IT! Great professor & very passionate! I have a bad attention span but in this class I am so focused & always laughing because he knows how to be humorous. He tells us to write what we believe in & how we feel he's not judgemental about our writings at all! If u can take him then do so!

Easiest English professor I have ever had. The papers them around your spirituality though, so if you are not comfortable discussing this, find a different section. He grades very easily and as long as you turn everything in you are guaranteed to pass. Always keeps class going during discussion. We were dismissed early probably 5-10 times.
