Comment:

Mitchell was an alright professor, he tries to joke around with students and make it a fun class. Exams are pretty easy, he gives out a study guide and you can use a full sheet of notes on the exams. Do the study guides and understand them and you'll do fine.

Comment:

Mitchell is very friendly and always willing to help clarify in and out of class. His jokes and examples are interesting to say the least, but if you practice the material outside of class you should have no trouble. The biggest WARNING I have for this class is to be prepared for intense group work, know people in class prior to start of class.

The class/material itself is hard but he makes it bearable. I failed FIN442 with another prof but am passing with Mitchell. He curves the exams a decent amount and gives study guides that tell you what exactly will be on the exams. If you follow the exam study guide its not bad at all.

Avoid this prof if possible. He spends almost NO time reviewing material from the previous course. His analogies are impossible to understand, and he doesn't follow his own grading rubric. Take Knewtson if possible. He's a nice guy though.

This professor's teaching style definitely is not for everyone, and I admittedly struggled with it myself. Take notes, do your homework, and make sure you understand them completely before class, as he gives a lot of quizzes. There's a copy of the book in Course Reserves at the library for when you're hitting a wall, DON'T BUY THE BOOK!

I will admit that for the first few weeks I didn't care for this guy. But after I adjusted to his teaching curve and learned how to study, I actually enjoyed him. DONT buy the book. Read and take the practice quizes/packets before class each day. As long as you read the packets and take the quizes, you can get an A.

Very difficult class. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! He uses packets, and is somewhat disorganized. Really nice guy, very willing to help. Tells awesome jokes to keep everyone fresh during lectures, which can be dense with new material.

Great professor, one of the best in the finance department. If you study and do the homework prior to class it is very easy to get an A. Very understanding and helpful, gives you everything you need to know, just depends how hard you want to work.

This guy is in a world of his own. You can't quite get a grasp of how he really is without being in his class. He's pretty cool though, he always has some good jokes and isn't afraid to make fun of himself. The class is kind of tough but as long as you attend you'll do fine.

Do not buy the book, you will never use it for anything! I never opened mine. The MC questions on the tests are hard, and you get a quiz all the time so study for them. This is a hard class so prepare for tests. You have 2 cases which i hated because you have to work on them outside of class time.

He is a great professor. He knows his stuff! This is not a easy class by any means, but he will give you all the material you need to suceed. The book is not needed, he supplies a packet with every lesson that is very helpful.

Before I took Mitchell's class I hated morning classes and finance, I still can't say that I'm a fan of either, but he helped me through the class better than I expected. Select your group members wisely as the cases total 20% of your grade. Do all the homework and take a moment to review the packets to prepare for quizzes. Do not buy the book.

He gives lots of homework and unannounced quizzes. You don't get to go over the homework you just turned in and the same day he gives a quiz over the material. Cases can be difficult, don't procrastinate. Tests are over the same material as the homework. Don't buy the book, you will NEVER use it. Overall, ok teacher for a difficult class.

Do your homework and practice probs and you'll do fine. Quizzes often, but not too difficult. Cases are pretty difficult so don't leave to last minute. Very confusing when you have questions and he tries to explain answer to you, but is willing to to help. Don't buy book!!!!
