Comment:

Lots of reading and writing but it's an honors English class so that's to be expected. Prof. Omlor encouraged discussion on the reading material, but did not pick on people randomly. He was pleasant and lectures were interesting. I felt he picked good novels to study - the year I took this class the theme was love. We studied Madame Bovary, etc.

Really interesting class, even if you have no interest in plays. He taught The Play as a Problem and the Problem of Plays. This required reading 6 or 7 plays, but if you can slog through them, its a good class. I didn't read them, and he goes over them so well in class that it didn't matter. Lots of movies, talking, but 4 hardcore papers.

The best professor I've ever had; bright, creative, and inspiring. You will WANT to do your reading and won't miss his class. I was religious and conservative during those years but was never offended by Omlor, like some of the reviews state. He was always fair and reasonable and I have a lot of respect for him and hope he continues to inspire.

Dr. Omlor wanted a chili pepper, so he's getting one. He's very funny and extremely well-read. Very interesting class. He expects a lot, but it's an honours class, so I wasn't expecting anything less. Definitely get him for all honours/English classes you can.

I had John as a professor back in 2000-2001 and I still remember him as being one of the best professors I ever had. Yes, he expects a lot of his students, but he is not unfair in anyway. He once pulled my paper out of the stack and said "She wrote this paper last night, and I can tell she did, but it's still an A paper." He isn't unfair, just good

Prof. Omlor is really funny and makes the class interesting. He definitely knows his stuff!! Papers were long and kind of unclear. Not sure if it was to get us to think on our own, though. So don't expect an easy A but definitely worth taking!

Professor Omlor definitely knows his stuff! We read six novels and wrote three papers, one of which was a final, 15-page, paper. His class was interesting, fun, and very easy. Read the assigned material and go to class and you've pretty much got your A in the class. Definitely get him if you can. You won't be sorry. :)

Really great guy. Knows his stuff. Hilarious; keeps class interesting because of just how humorous he is. Quotable as hell, to; he is in 3 out of about 7 my Facebook quotes. He has a lot to offer, and has made Western philosophy, as well as politics, interesting...While always underscoring what makes each trivial, and what makes each worthwhile.

Great teacher! Very good at teaching the texts in Acquisition of Knowledge. Definitely knows his stuff but will not get into any lengthy debate because he has only so much time to teach the class. Very smart and great speaker. Funny too.
