Comment:

Overall, I enjoyed CH108L! During lab, when Dr. Pendery would explain the procedure for the lab, he was not very clear and could be a bit confusing. However, he was willing to answer questions while I was conducting the experiment. CH108L was most definitely an easy course. It didn't take a lot of effort and studying to perform the experiments.

If chemistry isnt your strength, DO NOT get him. Boring lectures, smart man but cant explain the concepts. I went to every SI and study session &tests still had unpredictable questions that didnt correlate to lecture.The book wasnt helpful to me but get it if you plan on taking Intro to O Chem. Final was easiest exam- repeated prev. exam questions.

He isn't an awful teacher you get what you put into it. It is a difficult course but I got a lot from the notes and if I couldn't understand something you just need to look it up in the book. Not too hard if you actually learn what you're doing and DO THE OWL HOMEWORK. It boosts your grade and all you have to do is complete it.

worst chemistry teacher that i have ever had. HE is not clear in his explanations on anything, he goes on random rants in the middle of his lecture, his tests do not correlate well with the material that he teaches. And its nearly impossible to stay awake in his class

I had him a year ago for Fund of Chem, and again this semester for OChem, he's not too helpful but I think he has improved since i last had him. he uses this online thing called OWL which gives you lots of practice problems which you should do because they're a lot like his tests. You should go to class, if you can stay awake. Overall not very easy

I took Fundamentals of Chemistry last year for nursing, and it was the worst class I have ever had. He is so boring that I hated attending class. He gave random quizzes so that if you missed that day you were screwed. He is a very smart guy but he doesn't know how to transfer this to students who know nothing about it.

Had him for Fund. of chem and hated it!! He gave pop quizzes, and lectures were painfully boring. I learned nothing from him but followed OWL which is an internet program. If he still follows this - USE IT! It will be the only thing to help you on exams. The class was also more math than expected. If you're bad at math like me, it's not very easy.

I found him to be very difficult to follow during lectures; he got off topic frequently and went on tangents often. No logical flow to lectures; read the book and attend SI if you want to understand. His study guides are too vague. To understand concepts, you must read the book. Don't take him if chemistry is not your strongest subject.

I don't know what these guys are thinking. His class was cake. All you have to do is answer the questions on the study guide and you're guaranteed an A. It's as simple as that. He doesn't lecture on the text because it's easy stuff. He's very willing to help. People are just lazy and want an easy A. If you need a science class, take this.

I had Pendery for Chem in Our World Fall07, & while he's knowledgeable about chemistry, he is unable to communicate the subject matter to individuals at a level less than his. Meandering lectures that aren't focused, and fairly confusing. I had a good knowledge of chem before taking this class, and if I hadn't, I would have been totally lost.

Im currently taking him for Chem in Our World. Big Mistake! Theres no Curve, No extra credit. His lectures are very very boring, and study guides are way too vague. Theres no reason i should be trying to complete a 8 page study guide (as im doing right now). Audit this class Pass/Fail if you can, or find a different teacher. No Joke.!
