not a fun class... i wish he would actually tell us what the examples are for... he just kind of writes down examples the whole lecture without explaining. makes a boring class even more boring

Good guy, pretty good professor. tests not easy, but OK, as long as you put effort into them. not a "show up and pass course" If you try to pay attention to his lectures, you will end up OK. Some of the labs are fun. I would recommend this teacher.

He is nice, a little old, but a very good professor. He cares that everyone not only passes but does well. he has high expectations and is willing to help anytime, or with anything. If you don't do well it's because you didn't hold up your end.

This man should not be teaching. His monotone lectures are full of irrelevant information and they are nearly impossible to stay awake for. He's also very unapproachable, unfriendly, and incredibly unhelpful. Chem used to be my fav science class. I'm an A-student--listen to me--do not take his class!!

i had this class about a year ago. he is fair but not nice in the office hours. all u have to do is to study the privous tests. he is not an undrestanding teacher. just do ur job as a student. and also no make ups for the test. that sucks. but overall he is a good teacher or professor!!!!!!

hemistry Is always boring, so donĂ¢€™t expect too much fun from this class! He is a GOOd teacher , because whatever he covers in the class would be on the test. GET THE SAMPLE TEST FROM library and study for couple ours , then u should b fine. He is not an easy grater. Its all in ur hand. Give it a try!!!!!! (Azer)

This old dinosaur should retire. Bring a blanket and pillow to class and expect to catch some ZZZZs cause he's boring. His tests are long and hard so expect to do a lot of studying. He's NOT helpful and makes chemistry 100 times worse than it should be.

I think that Pettus is the best teacher i have ever had. He explains well, and does a good job with the time he has. Chemistry is a hard class, dont get me wrong, but as a teacher i wouldn't have chosen anyone else. I feel well prepared for Organic. He's knowledgable with a PhD.

This guy is great. His tests are very straightforward and how well you do is proportional to how much you study. He is much better than the other options. Chemistry is by its nature boring, but he at least made it fairly interesting.

VERY BORING!monotone lectures, hard to follow, very hard labs & tough grader,88 is an A but only 1 person ever gets an A (the A student in my class already had a BA in chem.). If you study really hard u might be able to pull off a B! Give urself room to drop for Final cuz its really HARD!

his class was boring and most likely 90% of the students were sleeping during his lectures. the labs are hard. the tests are similar to the sample tests in the library. he helps you if he really knows that you want to learn. I think his class wasnt that hard; you just have to do the homeworks and do

Very boring, makes class dry and unappealing. Not helpful in office hours. He expects you to know material he didn't explain. Grades hard in lab. His sample exams are most helpful.

Pettus is difficult to learn from. His robotic mannerism put most of the class asleep. You will drop 1-2 letter grades on the final(he warns you) However, 45% of your grade is lab and attendance. Do well on that and you should do ok. Will be challenging to get an A, easy to get a B if you study hard

Perfect example of someone who has done his job for too long. He just doesn't seem to care. Provides little to no instruction for labs. Lecture is extremely dry and boring. Will not help outside of class time. Get copies of his old tests and do them; it helps.

Always very clear and to the point. Good notes are a must because his teachings sometimes differ from the book. Very soft spoken, but he has an amazing ability to keep the class focused and on track. Tests fall right in line with suggested homework.
