He is a professor who represents your caliber. His class is a lesson in good science. He will train you rigorously and you will leave a much better academic than when you came in. He is worth the time and effort.

He is a teacher that will define your ability at USP. Either you have learned how to study by the time you take this class and learn TONS of things or you take this class lightly and get boggled down with the amount of work needed. This year it was MC Exam, unlike previous years where it was essays. Tests have gotten easier IMO.

Love mr porter for biology. just start studying for his tests one week in advance and you are guaranteed at least a B. Just take good notes and listen in class and you are fine. 1000000x better than walbach and mostrom.

Horrible. He covers a ton in lecture, but the exams are only based on a few small parts. He gave us options on what questions to answer, but if you picked the longer ones you didn't have nearly enough time to complete the exam. Questions are so open ended that you could spend the entire 2 hours on one of the three.

The only thing I learned in this class is that it doesn't matter how much you know, he will bring you down! Final was difficult. Class was a waste of time. You learn more about researching and writing than cell biology. And don't get me started on the lab.

Ugghh..hated us biochem students. Definitely showed preferential treatment to biology majors over the chmistry majors. Very smart, but scathing in his criticism

First test was very easy and got an A. Second test was very hard. Balanced out with lab work and the term paper. Term paper was fun but required a LOT of time and work, but did well. Just take GOOD notes + Pay attention. Don't need the book. Fun and lively teacher, keeps class intersting. Nice guy. Lab work is fun. Working in groups is not.

His class is very difficult! You have to read the book once or twice proactively. Take notes while you read. He is willing to listen to your opinion about the clarity of test questions. He'll answer questions in class. If you read sections and then come to class, it is beneficial. If you don't read it prior to coming to class, you won' get too much

He is straight from the book, so as long as you study I think you'll be fine for his exams. However I kno many ppl that failed his class, you just have to study the material, he's very straightforward on his tests, either you know it or u dont

I learned more in this man's classes than I did in the 3 years prior but it was as hard as ****. I also like that in evolution he didn't give the religious types any ground. There was no place for creationism or Retarded Design in his class.

had him in '96 and almost died every cell class because it was so hard- but he made it doable because you had all sorts of chances to improve your grade. I know there were labs that I did at least 4 times to get a better grade

If Santa had an evil brother, it is this man. Rather egotistical, always laughs at his own jokes. Waddles. Cell bio is more about a single paper than the information learnt.
