Comment:
If John Schmor offers any course and you are qualified to take it, do so. You will not regret it. The work is challenging, the expectations are high, and you will grow in ways that you may not have realized you were capable of. The course material from his acting classes and his colloquium course changed me and have resonated with me for years.

Fantastic. One of the smartest, most interesting and nicest profs I've had. Makes history fun with lots of information, anecdotes and clarifications you won't find in textbooks. But, he doesn't like it when people spout irrelevant information.

Very intelligent and well-informed. Really excited about his work, lots of humor. Don't let the dramaturgy scare you. Read the plays (they'll be on the quizzes!) At times a bit flustered and ignores students when short on time.

Bravo. I have never had a professor make me work so hard, yet loved every minute of it. I particularly liked how people would take his class to get credit towards graduation and would think it was going to be a breeze because it was "History of Theatre." Wow! Did they have something else coming to them. They sure failed nicely. It was great. Yes Theatre takes a lot of work, but he sure made us feel passionate about it. Go to the hike at dawn. You will never forget. I never have. =)

Excellent class. He makes you look at both sides of the issue as well as how the plays and types of theatre apply directly to the socil interaction of the time. He is not exactly hardnosed, but he does make you work, and he is always helpful. definitely a professor that makes you think and useyour own original ideas.

Definitely brings personal issues to his work as a professor. Has a big ego and throws his power around.

Schmoor's history of theatre class is extremely hard. But it is the most interesting class I have taken at the university. His insight makes history fascinating.
