I've taken 3 history courses and Prof. Smith is my least favorite. The workload isn't too bad (short readings most nights, and essays on the 2 books assigned). But pop quizzes are frequent (good luck getting an A if you miss one), and his feedback on papers is not helpful. VERY tough grader for a history class. Final paper worth most of your grade

He's a great professor, very funny and personable. He cares about participation and work ethic, but the class is good enough that the work is definitely worth it.

He is a really nice funny old man, however not a good teacher. There are no textbooks so you have to go to class and take really good notes, however he spits out random facts the whole time and expects you clarify it into common themes into only essay tests. It is confusing and he is unclear as to what is expected. Also SO MUCH READING.

Not that bad of a class. Just go to class and pay attention. Do the readings and you can get an A. Little outside work too (1-2 papers). I actually enjoyed the class and learned some interesting things about technology.

Hands down the worst class I've ever taken. No textbook is used, so you must go to every class and take notes religiously. On exams he expects the most in depth, precise responses fathomable. Also gives out tough pop quizzes on assigned readings. Not recommended at all. I actually thought the material would be modern, but it's more early 1900s

Good class interesting material. Class can get boring a lot of the time. Attendance is n't mandatory but you'll do poorly on exams if you don't go. Also gives little quizes which add up to a lot. Exams are straightforward there were no surprises. Theres 2 books to read, 1 exam, and a paper. Solid class. I'd recommend though he can be very boring.

Prof Smith teaches this course through random anecdotes that confuse all his students. There is no logical progression to his thoughts and he has extreme difficulty finishing thoughts and sentences. Studying for exams is impossible and he gives no study guides or hints on what to focus on. do not take this class

He's pretty funny. Brings food to class every now and then. Just write down most of what he says. The tests are essay format, so be prepared to write a lot for them. The reading assignments can be a bit tedious and long, but the rare quiz on them is doable if you glance even at the name of the article. Take a class with him at some point.

Prof Smith definetly knows many facts, but is not interested in hearing what the student knows. He throws out lots of trivia and historical catch phrases and expects you to remember them and repeat them on exams. Does he knw his stuff "yes" is he a good history professor, "NO"

Great class, great prof. He's a really funny guy and makes the class a joy to attend. His TA's do grade rather roughly, however.

has a totally backwards way of teaching... gives a ton of completely insignificant details and then expects you to spit them back out in essay format on a test.. not a fun class unless you happen to remember every strange detail he gives

Prof Smith is the man. He's got a good sense of humor, knows everything he talks about in class, and is able to grab the attention of all students. If you want an elective that isn't really much work and will offer some valuable information, take his classes. No homework, essay exams, no attendance policy and one paper..go to class for easy A

If you want to take a class where you will learn something useful this is the one. Discussion of technology and how it developed along with how the population reacted to it. Covers the post world war 1 to the internet in 1995. Easy quizzes and tests are not hard if you go to class. Paper is short and very simple if you follow directions. easy A

Funniest prof ever! Class is supposed to be local history, but he manages to bring so much else in... a lot of reading, some really dry, and gives easy pop quizzes. Hilarious lectures make up for everything, however.

He is very interesting and amusing. Extremely nice guy/great professor. He favors students that contribute to discussions. Read, read, read! Grading is a little hard/unclear. You must attend class and do all work to pass.
