Dr Sommerville was always a great professor except that his classes were to early. I once called him an anti-cokeite but he was still the best professor I ever had.

Had him for Medieval England. One piece of advice... If you MUST take him, DO NOT take him anytime in the morning... you'll be asleep faster than a stray in the pound. He's VERY VERY boring. Very irradic lectures, no sustaining topic, and an extremely monotonous voice.

Left a bad first impression, but he warms up after a while--the class is not very interactive, but there's a reason! This guy knows what he's talking about, and has his fascinating lectures down to a science. I will be very sorry to see him go after this term.

Good professor. I really enjoyed him. He's smart, knows the material, and proves to be pretty witty at times. Be ready to take notes, but everything he says is good stuff.

I had no problems with the guy as a person. But lectures were kind of dry, and I was unclear of what he wanted for the test. His attendance policy, while noble, also seems very high school-like.

Very smart teacher. At first look he appears to be a snotty, mean know-it-all but he in fact cares for students to succeed. Only complaint is lack of student involvement in lectures and boring voice tends to drive you straight to sleep.
