By far my most favourite professor. Lectures very enlightening, engaging, and of the highest quality. They were also heartbreaking. John exposes the raw truth of society in how non human animals are treated and how anyone considered "other" based on any of the "isms". A true gifted man of integrity, humility and intellect. He makes a difference.

Professor Sorensen is a man of true integrity and intellect. He tells you the raw truth. He exposes the cruelty being done to non human animals. He is a true hero. He is humble and not even aware of how truly amazing he is. He has a precious soul and I there's a special place in heaven for him. I had him years ago for a few courses.

Professor Sorenson is committed to the art and science of teaching (pedagogy). The student-centred approach supported by clear instructions and guidance helped me comprehend the course. I will highly recommend his course to anyone who is interested in learning something about nonhuman animals. He rocks!

A good guy, clearly cares about what he teaches about. Had to write a lot of papers for his course. If you didn't read the material you would not pass his class. Assignments were a little unclear but overall a good professor. He accommodated for me when I had a personal family matter for which I am grateful for.

The sweetest prof at Brock, incredibly wise, knows what he is talking about and class topics are out of the norm of any other university (I took a class about dogs!!!). Warning though, can be triggering because of how honest and real the topics are.

Professor Sorenson is one of the most sweetest and most compassionate precious people I have ever met. He truly cares for people and animals. John is heartbroken over how disgustingly horrific and cruel beyond words animals are treated - for food/entertainment/experiments etc. He had been moved to tears while showing raw footage of what happens.

Seriously the most wonderful man. So intelligent and so funny. He's able to present the material in a critical way without seeming like a cult leader (tends to happen in sociology). Sometimes in his own little world and definitely a better prof for upper year classes. Great professor overall.

Sorenson's lecturing style was less than ideal for learning the material. He often seems like he's whispering to himself, making the lectures seem super long.

are all poor ratings reviewed and deleted? I placed an honest, but not supportive rating, and it is 'under review'. I won't say anything derogatory here to see if this review makes it up.

Sadly, not a very good professor. Sensationalizes issues by over simplifying. Gains students respect by misuse of facts and distorts the truth. It is a shame that he receives so much blind adoration, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Suggest students seek the real truth behind Dr. Sorenson's arguments. I hope my opinion is not edited.

wonderful, informative prof. not even close to "scary cult leader", just because he doesn't sugar coat things and try to make the world seem like a wonderful place-its that kind of complacency that leads to the problems he talks about in the first place-hes passionate, and makes no excuses for his biases, he doesnt attempt to hide to hide them
