This by far has been the absolute worst teacher I have taken. His lectures are just read from a projector and he just reads worked examples from the book. There is utterly no guidance whatsoever in his class. His final was very hard in the sense that we had no clue what to prepare for because he went through a ton of material toward the end.

You will have to teach yourself the material. He literally reads from the slides and never works out a REAL problem. HW is assigned every week and quizzes will come from HW. SO if you memorize the HW you should do ok on quizzes. Tests were completely from left field and his grading was brutal. I do not suggest taking this person for anything.

Homework isn't graded, but you MUST be able work the hw problems to pass. The quizes & tests come from the homework (with numbers changed). Memorize all the formulas used to work the homework. His lectures are far from inspiring. He just scrolls through slides upon slides of pre-worked problems. Honestly, I learned more from the lab than the class.

Stensby covers the material well. All of his class notes (for EE385) are on the web. He e-mails out homework solutions. All tests come from assigned homework or problems that he works in class.

Good teacher. If you go to his office and ask him a question, he is helpful to answer. However, EE382 will not be an easy class. But if you can do the homework, you'll be fine because the midterm, final and quizzes come from modified homework problems. He also rounds everything (homework, quizzes and tests). I would take him again.

Comment:
Teaching style is purely math and derivation based, with little to no real-world connections. Quizzes and tests are passed by students only because of memorization of homework, not understanding of the material. Insults students who ask for help during office hours. Unacceptable for a course that is built upon so heavily in proceeding courses.

Stensby is more demanding than most, but if you do the home work, you will do well. Tests come from (modified) homework problems

Homework has nothing to do with lecture! however, homework is given weekly with a weekly quiz based on the homework. If you study the homework, the quiz should be easy enough. MidTerm and Final are based on the HW and Quizzes. Just don't expect him to answer questions, email, help with comprehension, etc.

Dr. Stensby is a nice person however it seems he has lost touch with teaching. He gets lost where he is in lectures or in the class in general. 5 of our homework assignments were on material never covered before it was due. At one point I could believe Dr. Stensby was a good teacher but those days have long since past.

Only have to answer 2 out of 5 HW problems for grading, only 10%. Will supply solutions after. Study HW problems for weekly quizzes as they will be exact other than number changes. Midterm and Final are just like HW problems and examples worked in class. Study both HW and examples and midterm and final should be a breeze.

Class can be hard. He teaches from power point. Tests/quizes come only from problems worked in class and hw (might change a few numbers around though). HW was usually from previous semesters (so it will be good to have all old HW). I got an "A" out this class.

Unless you already know the material you will not have an easy time. He likes theory. Numeric examples will be rare and examples in practical context will be nonexistent. He also doesn't engage with the students. He won't expect answers in class and doesn't seem to care when you don't pipe up. Maybe he's become jaded over the years...

Dr. Stensby is one of a kind. No doubt about that. His tests for 420 are 85% just like the homework. Nothing is "easy" about it, but you can slide through with a C.
