I personally took classics courses before (didn't need the books), but if this course is new to you then get the textbooks, listen to lecture on the chapter, then take the quiz after each chapter. Also, he gives notes that outline/summarize the chapters. 3 exams that must be proctored. Quizzes make up the exam so study them. Easy A

this class is so easy if you spread out the reading and listen to the lectures right before you take the quizzes they are super easy. The tests are exact questions and answers from the quizzes and the final/ last test isn't cummulative and all the quizzes are only like 1% of your grade each .

Dr. Stevens is a fantastic professor, a true scholar! His classes are difficult and challenge the students, but you learn a lot. He likes writing assignments, so if you are not a strong writer then I would steer clear. However, he is kind and accessible; he wants to make sure that his students succeed. Top notch guy.

If your not a GREAT writer DONT take this class. If you want an easy A please find another class. He wants very specific answers that he does not make clear in his lectures. If you do not work on your papers for at least a week get ready to receive a C. Its not worth it is too hard and confusing and he rants on about useless crap that you never use

Professor Stevens is amazing & very patient. He makes class fun and I enjoyed it. Latin isn't difficult if you take the time & effort to look over the notes. He is always willing to help and spend that extra amount of time with a person struggling.

Great professor! What else can I say? He's extremely patient, helpful, and funny. He makes Latin fun and easy. You do need to study and go to class obviously as with any other foreign language. Latin is a difficult subject, but at least with Doctor Stevens you'll have a better time studying it :)

Dr. Stevens continues to be one of the best professors at ECU. He's so concerned about his students understanding everything and doing well. I wouldn't take Latin from anyone else. And if you're trying to decide a language to take for your degree requirements, definitely consider taking Latin 1001-1004 from him.

latin was very hard for me...i had to struggle to maintain a b, but dr stevens is wonderful! he made things as easy and fun as possible. he is willing to help, nice, smart, and very funny. if you take latin, take stevens.

Best teacher ever! Absolutely amazing! Willing to give extra help and take the time to explain everything. Makes learning latin fun. Can miss like 7days of the semester, and is willing to work with you if you miss more. He's def one of my fav professors ever!

Latin sucks, but if you want to take it, Stevens is a better bet than Cerutti. He's really laid back but he tends to call on everyone and senses when you don't have your homework. He's a stickler for memorizing the declentions and making students write them on the board

Very Approachable, willing to help. Dedicated to helping you learn. Classroom is relaxed, casual & open to all comments & questions (even peripherally related) Humor is standard, a song here and there. Go to class and do homework, you have at least a B. One of the best teachers I've ever had.

By far the best professor I have had a ECU for anything. He is so willing to help students who are struggling with this class. Latin is hard, and he knows it, and is VERY nice about it.
