He's a nice guy. Theres 5 quizzes, a midterm, and a final. He drops the lowest quiz grade. Personally I went in, he started talking about minerals and I'm like wow this is going to be so easy. Got a 60 on my first test. Don't go in with that attitude. He's there to help. Everything is cumulative, so it's kind of tough. Show up & study youll be good

Office hours definitely make this class a lot easier to pass, because the tests have a lot of minute details from the lectures. There was no textbook, and that actually made this class slightly more difficult. His attendance policy is quite strict, but if you do the work you signed up for, you'll pass pretty easily.

Age of Dinosaurs sounded like a fun class until I actually took it. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Taylor is very knowledgable about this field, and he seems like a nice guy. However, he writes all over the board and barely uses powerpoints. Everything on the test is from the lecture, so you have to show up. Good luck reading through your notes afterwards

This is the hardest class ever!!! For this to be a 101 class it is rediculous. He teaches as if you already know what he is talking about. No textbook, no powerpoints, no definitions. Every time you miss class its 3% off your grade. This is the worst class to take

Nice guy but I wish I would have never took this class and lab with him. I'm in another geology class and I'm getting an A in that one. He does not use power point, he has no book, no study guides, and all the exams are cumulative. Expect to attend all the tutoring sessions. He teaches off the top of his head and scribbles notes on the chalkboard.

He is the worst professor. He writes on the board and you cant read his writing. He is very unclear. He acts like you should know this stuff already. NOT helpful. Talks about lab even if your not in his lab. I wish i had a different professor.. Do NOT take HIS CLASS

I can't say one bad thing about this guy. Very nice but expects you to know a lot! I have no regrets taking this class during the summer, I think it made it easier seeing we met everyday and there were not week long spaces to forget about material! Awesome guy, I would take him again.

I'm a major and have gotten to know all of the professors in this small department. None of the professors are easy and they shouldn't be. You're in college, classes should be challenging but manageable. Dr. Taylor is a very nice, highly knowledgable man and has been teaching for a long time. He is a good professor and will always help you.

Dr. Taylor is one of my favorite profs. I have always hated science classes and dreaded this one but I was so surprised by him. He is so smart, kind, and funny. I really enjoyed his class and found it easy and informative. You need to pay attention but it isnt rocket science. Taylor is one of the best profs on campus. Take him and pay attention!

I had Dr. Taylor for the age of dinos class and thought it would be really hard from what everyone on here said. I got an A+ in his class! I have no backround in dinos or geoscience and only studied the night before the tests. Half the class dropped and most got D's or F's but I thought it was simple and I am a sociology major! TRY IT! HE IS GREAT!

Do NOT go into this class expecting an easy A. Dr Taylor truly enjoys this material & expects us to work hard to grasp the concepts. His exams are difficult, but his office is always open & he takes tons of time to answer any questions. Took him during the summer, not the easiest course, but the material is interesting & has practical implications

Honestly. This guy is nice. But not everyone is a rock major. He's extremely hard. I'm a business major and had to drop it. Was not for me or a few others in the class. Don't take him for lab.

He's a great teacher if you're a geology major. For those who are not, he is fairly hard. Quizzes and tests are difficult but he seems to grade pretty fairly. He is very hard to follow if you have no grasp of geology before taking the class, acts as if he is teaching all geoscience majors.

I don't think he realizes that very few, if any, of his students have any geology background. He moves very quickly, and doesn't answer your questions very well. I find it hard to study for his tests, and the midterm was definitely not what I was expecting. Supposedly he's a really high up person in the field, but I didn't like him.

Dr. Taylor really cares and wants students to learn. This was a 1 credit class and like his MO quickly turned it into a 10 credit class. The class was supposed to get students ready for a three week summer fieldtrip in Newfoundland. The final took three hours and he tried to fit more info into the class than needed.I dread his classes.

The class is easy if you take notes and review the material. This class was to review all the information that will be needed in the field, i.e. Newfoundland.
