Avoid at all cost. Horrible teacher, just reads off powerpoints and if you do bad on one quiz or test u are dropped gradewise pretty badly.

I had him for chem 101-102. The class was extremely boring and consisted of him going over a powerpoint while saying "here" a lot. Tests weren't too bad and are the exact same as the old tests if you can get them. Grade is only 3 tests and recitation quizzes so if you mess up one test it drops your grade quite a bit (A to B- after the final)

I went to class at first, then I was so bored I couldn't stay awake listening to him talk. So I stopped going...I still did just fine in the class. Just look at old tests and quizzes, read the book...do the practice problems in the book and you'll get the concepts. All he does is read the powerpoints, never ever deviates.

worst class ever! Prof is retiring (i heard), but seriously... going to class is useless... study old tests and look over power points and watch your sig figs and maybe you can pull off a C.. the only good part of the class was the curve.

BORING. BORING. BORING. This man will read directly from his power points. He will not deviate a bit. None. WORD FOR WORD. Just dont go to class. He is a waste of your time. Get an old exam and study that, maybe glimpse over his reused power points and hope to god your next chem prof doesnt actually teach because you'll be behind massively.

A List of Boring Things: Watching paint dry, doing laundry, attending Thayer's 101 lecture. Not a bad guy, just extremely dull.

Thayer is that stereotypical old guy prof that stands at the front of the lecture hall droning on and reading slides. The only real education you'll get from his class is in recitation. Lecture is useless. Hopefully you get a great TA.

Get out while you still can. Lecture is pointless and the tests are hard and don't pertain to the lecture anyway.

He's alright. It's a class you can easily miss. It's boring. He has powerpoints and just reads off of them anyways. His tests are a little hard.

he is a waste-- i went to every class but it was just to socialize and powerpoints are online so there is no point in going really... get old tests and youll be fine they are the exact same with a few number changes in the problems-- but the final was nothing like the final the year before so study for that

HORRIBLE!!! Find tests from previous years, they're a lot like the ones he'll give you. The material isn't hard, he just makes the exams hard and grades hard. If you have the opportunity, get a different professor.

im not one to skip classes, but after going 2 the 1st 2 classes realized that it wld be a complete waste of time. besides the first two calsses the only ones i attended were for the exams. hes too old to be teaching, reads straight from powerpoints which r posted online. get ahold of his old exams (which he reuses) & read the book n ul do fine

Went to lecture twice. Learned the material from TAs, and whatever they didnt go over, I just found in the lecture powerpoints or in the text book. Exams are kin of easy but there will be some random little detail thats worth a ton of points and easily trips you up. Not recommended if you want to thuroughly understand Chem, but gets the job done.
