He's a great lecturer, however there is small student participation in the actual discussions. Very book heavy, but he goes over them in class. Very good man to have as your professor. He is THE man on campus.

John Walsh is so incredibly kind, caring, funny and insanely smart. He is a great lecturer, he isn't boring, and he's interested in his students' thoughts. This course was a great one because we discussed current events and read articles that related to what's going on in the world. There weren't any additional assignments. Highly highly recommend.

His intro level ethics class is fun. The first semester is focused on how to use ethics while the second gets to the actual ethical issues. My only suggestion is that it be more of a discussion based class, rather than just a lecture. There is a lot of reading, but it's all interesting. Make sure to participate so he knows who you are!

Comment:
Though no one could possibly argue that Dr. Walsh is somehow a bad man. As a professor of ethics, he is incredibly biased. Very disappointed with his class. He starts by teaching how to approach conversations on ethics and how to find compromise, then proceeds to disregard what he teaches and teaches his own ethics as universal. A good hearted man.

Comment:
Unfortunately, I found that he does not actually teach ethics in his ethics courses. He is highly biased and expresses strong personal opinions in his lectures, instead of presenting balanced arguments. The final grade is typically based on two exams and a presentation, so there is not much opportunity to obtain a good grade in his courses.

John Walsh is AMAZING. You need to take a class with his. He is kind, caring, and extremely knowledgeable. I enjoyed going to religion and ethics every day, because He made it so interesting. I had him for may term, the best part as that he worked it so that there were no text books at all when I took him everything was on reserve at the library.

An easy class. You don't have to do the reading to get by but the point of this course isn't really just about getting by. Do the reading! John is a good guy. He'll never say never when it comes to helping anyone.

If you want to REALLY learn something, take Walsh. His courses speak to topics that have lasting importance. On some days, his classes reach for high heights but miss by virtue of reticent students. John marched with MLK and negotiated iran hostage crisis
