Very old school. Doesn't seem to update his material at all. I took his South Asian Politics course while Indian and Sri Lankan election were occurring and during a coup in Pakistan and he didn't mention it ONCE because it strayed from his 1984-era material. He is a very nice man, but strict, too focused on attendance and uses old old material.

This guy is from the "old school" of teaching, which means that he is a tough marker. He can be grumpy, kurt, and unsympathetic to struggling students. He still remains a top UBC prof and a favourite of mine. Be prepared to give him 100% effort or don't bother taking his class. He has a great mind.

Wonderful! He wears ties & suits with patches on the elbows everyday. He has a beard. He pronounces moment mo-ment One time he got spam from a Nigerian Princess who wanted his money and he thought it was real for a day. he is smart and interesting.

If you do not do things exactly the way he wants them done, he will be very hard on you. Snaps at students and bullies them. Also changes course policy - found out in January of a six credit course that attendance was going to be mandatory.
